Great idea, maybe include the a link to this tutorial site on installation... that way ppl will know, killing civis=bad, you have to request kits, it will eliminate noob pilots, stop some one man tanks, etc.
People are more likely going to watch a video(s), then read a manual, even though they should do both.
.....oh, yay

Good idea about the hud and map icons! Would also be cool to do new voice tutorials. If I can manage to speak in a professional english way I would be happy to voice them. Altought it could be better to get someone else to do that
Thanks everyone!
Thanks everyone!

I'd be happy to help with the voices if I didn't sound like a total jackass
It may also be helpful to include a tutorial about all of the acronyms that are found within PR, I find it amazing how few people know what VOIP is.

Re: New player help - My idea to help out
Yea. But I think that would be better suited on a normal page that is included in the basic training. Its a good idea though!
Thanks for the help offering! Im gonna try it myself first. See how my pronounciation ( if that is even spelled right lol
) is. But we could still maybe use 2 voices so people dont have to listen to the same voice over and over
Last night was hectic. Left work late and the traffic was crazy due to the first autumn weather. So maybe I got some time this evening to make like a mock-up and the script of the first tutorial.
EDIT:
I downloaded the BF2 vanilla fansite kit for design stuff. Is there a PR one as well? Or is there a place where I can get renders of soldiers with new skins, new vehicles etc. etc. At work at the moment so forgive me asking here instead of searching myself.

Re: New player help - My idea to help out
Just an Idea: Never did this and im not sure if new players would make use of it - but how about experienced players opening some kind of dedicated open training squad once in a week or a month ?
Not sure if any squadname could become common usage for such a squad..maybe LEARN_PR or sth.
Im also not sure if players who would join such a squad are such ones who read the manual anyway and would learn better in "normal" Squads.
What do you think ? useless or worth testing ?
I mean: When i played pr first i was expecting a more communicative play and my first squadleader was a very nice but somewhat quiet, three people without voip and one guy who became REALLY angry and shouted on me because i didnt know that i should have thrown a smoke grenade before trying to revive him and he lost any precious kit...that was not very encouraging. If i had seen a squad which looked liked: "Hey new ones, join and learn something !" i would certainly have joined in.

That could work. I think some people are already doing that sometimes. I could do that as well sometimes. Never really thought about it. If I see someone asking in chat I help him instead of saying: Manual right away. That helps as well

Re: New player help - My idea to help out
Hey guys!
Yesterday I made a quick draft/sketch of the first 2 vids. This is kinda what I had in mind. Quick short video's that give you the info on the topic.
Dont mind the spelling please
( dutch player here )
VID.1 Joining a game
Joining a server in Project Reality is still the same as in Battlefield 2. When you have joined the game you should aproach it different though. You should take a moment to see where your teams at on the map. Than think about what role you want to play on the map. If you want to go armour find yourself an armour squad. If you just want to go infantry see if theres an infantry squad standing by.
If there already is a full armour squad ( or pilot for this matter ) its not that smart to create a new one. You will only share the valuable assets with the other squad and reduce the time you have with them dramaticly.
As a new player however you should just join an infantry squad. Its easier to learn the basics of PR in these squads. Usually these squads have names like: Tac Inf VOIP or INF ONLY. Join the squad, greet the people in there and ask the squad leader what kit he needs. Also asks if he wants you on the rally point or on some other spawn point. Grab the kit he asked for ( not all kits are selectable from spawn. See video X for this ) and spawn at the point he asked for.
VID.2 Selecting special kits
In Project Reality there are a lot of kits that are not selectable from the spawn menu. Most of these special kits can be selected from the main-base, firebase/bunker or rally point. Than theres the Sniper Kit, Heavy Anti Tank and Special Ops that can only be selected at the mainbase or firebase/bunker.
To select one of these kits at the mainbase, walk up the flag ( 50 m radius ), Press T, Select Kit should appear in the Commo Rose, left click, scroll or point at the kit you want and left click again.
To select one of these kits at the firebase or rallypoint walk up to them ( 2 m radius ), Press T, Select Kit should appear in the Commo Rose, left click, scroll or point at the kit you want and left click again.
Once you selected the kit it should be at your feet. Press G to pick it up.
If you did not get the kit than someone else is probably using it. The special weapons are a valuable asset so theres a limited ammount to hand out. Once the person using it dies, the kit should be back in the “kit pool” in about 2 minutes.
notes
Let me know what you would like to see different in these 2 scripts. I think I covered both of the topics pretty well.
