AKS-74U

Post by six7 »

Better knoewn as the MEC spec ops gun. Besides sounding completly wimpy, it looks like a toy made of plastic, as seen below:

They just put some optics on it. Not like they made it up. And those Russian naval infantry in OFP had optics on their AK-74s

Though the real Spetsnaz and Airborne special forces use scopes too.

Turns out not so fake, but just a clone or such from an AKS-74U Krinkov, and still isn't ecactly like shown above but close...

Now in terms of mass producing this for special forces, I don't know but I highly doubt it and not seen anything yet like this in mass numbers.
EDIT* A similar one but on an AK-74M.

In-game model looks too short. And that crappy coloring has always bugged me :B

The sight isn't made up it's called the Cobra Collimator:

One on an AK-101, would be neat for special forces MEC team.

Oh, and by the way, that POS model DOES need to be remodeled.

Okay - AKS-74U (known as Krinkov in USA) is not the same as the AK-74 or AK-74M as you may well have guessed.

The U stands for ukorachenie which means shorterened in Russia. This is because the weapon was, well shortened, for SpetzNaz and also in-vehicle usage. It has several technical changes, some parts have been shortened or moved backwards, sights are thus changed due to a different muzzle velocity. However it has many parts interchangable with the regular AK-74. It has an effective range of only around 250 metres, but fires right up to 750 RPM. It is not a main assault rifle and is only deployed to the Spetznaz for CQB or pilots etc.

Perhaps we can use the AKS-74U as a PDW for the MEC

Neat info, but thought everyone had figured that out by now. Also it's AKS-74U, as it was modified from the AKS-74, and it isn't just limited to Spetsnaz and Pilots. Airborne Units, Police, and other Military special forces use it. My point of the post above was to prove that the sighting system was not fake, and that it was able to be mounted on any AK-series weapons-and-then-some. I'm sure if the MEC had some sort of special forces they would incorporate these into their military, not sure if they would get new shiny all-black ones or keep(if they had any) and or buy the old wood stock ones from Russia or neighboring countries. But if we had a MEC special forces team, then AKS-74Us, AKM-74s(or rather AK-101s), maybe etc... with tactical scopes and all. It would look nice. A pet peeve of MEC special forces is that the guy looks completely retarded lookin like Luigi with a beret on with that bad model they call a AKS-74U...

Yeah, I edited my single player files once to mess with the M82. You actually had to go prone to fire it.

Trying to remember, it was quite a while back. The scoped-view was messed-up and was only 1x view but like through a scope I think. Also I coulda sworn the sound was missing. During the idle animation, the troop would pat it and stroke it like they do with the SAW.

I thought the idle animation was he stuck his finger in a little metal loop like for the sling and he would get it stuck and try to pull it out then after a few seconds he'd get it loose. Anyways, if PR ever uses this, I made an effect that's ready to go for it with the side muzzle smoke too.
