Yes but then Valve hired them and made it a retail game. I don't think the original CS mod is still actively being played at all.

BTW, what's the gun the sniper's got in requiem's avatar? Its damn cool looking.

I believe that was the primary weapon for the marksman kit back in the day before the good old M-14, i never got to use it either it looks so kool.
