PR needs gunship support like this [Video]
Lol This vid is just for fun. Enjoy.
I thought the rocket trials were pretty cool. And look in "RL" the flares actually fly away from the chopper not along with it so that the AA missile still proximity detonates, damaging the chopper in PR.

I think gunship support like that is in PR..At least it is when I'm in the Cobra/Apache.

I've seen that vid. before though, nice.

It's impossible to overcome the one thing that really hinders CAS in BF2 and that thing is indestructible environments. If somebody was hiding in a building you could just fire a rocket at it and pretty much down the whole structure. In BF2 if you're not exposed to the point of impact you're going to be fine. Rockets don't blow up walls much less down a building.

I think the HIND would be too overpowered. Ya know, big gunship with all those weapons on it...Truism wrote:I think the real message here is that PR desperately needs Hinds ^_^

Eh? You mean just like the Apache, Cobra, Havoc and Z10? In what way would the Hind be better than anyone of these except for the ability to carry troops?ArPeeGee wrote:I think the HIND would be too overpowered. Ya know, big gunship with all those weapons on it...
Anyway, when the ruskies gets into PR they'll hopefully take a couple of Hinds with them. Judging from videos from Chechnya and Georgia it is by far the most widely used helicopter in the Russian Army.

The biggest dis-advantage of the Hind is that,it's so friggin' big,it's an easy target, and the blades like to rip to pieces alot,on their own,but I think in the new Super Hind, they've resolved that issue..
Cobra & Apache FTW!
But back on topic..if one reall exists here, lol.

i think the mi-24 hind in PR should have blind rockets and a fixed twin barrel machinegun. it should be able to transport a full squad + the 2 pilots.
since it's real life counterpart is used as a fixed wing aircraft for fast and heavy ground attacks, a turnable turret shouldn't be used in the pr version for balance and gameplay reasons. it should be like an agile ground attack jet with transport capabilities.
imagine it over the mountains and green valleys on feyzabad, dodging rpg fire and clearing areas for infantry! GIVE IT TO ME. DO IT! DO IT! DO IT!

Well on muttrah yesterday I played mec and a cobra kept hammering our troops! We couldnt take it down because every fire base we put up got destroyed by the damn thing
So theres games where theres airsupport like this.
At a certain moment [TG] Opall (if I remember correctly) got on an aa and took some choppers out.

that's why the hind should have a fixed machinegun (not a moving turret like in special forces) so it has to move to be able to shoot, not hover around.cyberzomby wrote:Well on muttrah yesterday I played mec and a cobra kept hammering our troops! i guess the gunner would be responsible for all the weapons and the pilot just fly, right? that would demand even more teamwork than the cobra.

I agree with this. Has anyone here played the Point of Existence Mod for BF2? They have the Hind very well done in that game. Can hold a pilot/gunner and 6 soldiers in the back.

A Hind would be cool, but to count a troop carrying attack helo you must outfit the blackhawk with hellfires and or rocket pods.

If the HIND makes it into PR I hope it will be able to carry 4 troops and still have all the weapons like the other attach helos (guided missiles and gun) maybe a weak gun but still.

Depends on witch verison Hind you get, some have a pod mounted aimable 4 barrel 12.7mm gatling gun, others a fixed 30mm double barrel canon.Spaz wrote:If the HIND makes it into PR I hope it will be able to carry 4 troops and still have all the weapons like the other attach helos (guided missiles and gun) maybe a weak gun but still.

The Hind should be put in true to it's real life counterpart. There are reasons why Hinds are not the world's best attack chopper. Hinds are just APCs with wings... Compared to other attack helos, they are slow and vulnerable.
Secondly, dropping off troops is pretty much the opposite of what you want to do to survive and give air support.
Thirdly, it doesn't fire explosve shells out of the nose gun, except when it's fixed as mentioned above, fourthly it's missiles don't work terribly well (and so pretty much always get fired in twos), fifthly, compared to other attack heloes, it's easy to hit with heat seeking missiles (model this by giving it less flares)...
Balance the Hind properly...

I agree, if anything is put in it should be as realistic as possible.Truism wrote:No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no............................

A helicopter is so easy to shoot down in PR... All this "would make it alot harder and more teamwork" etc inside the copper when on the ground one lone guy can just hop into AA and own them all?

"oh, they're fire and forget all right...they're fired then they forget where the target is"
