Make grapple hook stay in place longer?

After the grapple hook is thrown, it only stays where it is for 60 seconds.

It's quite annoying for several reasons:

-As spec ops, I like to be have my hook deployed for fast escape down a roof or something.

-When with a squad and infiltrating an enemy fortification, it's lame that you can't leave the hook there for your squad or other teammates to use it in an extended period of infiltration.

-It's ummm......not realistic at all?

Can this be changed?

Is it intentionally set to disappear after 60 seconds? If so, why?

Can we make it not disappear at all? Bump it up to around 5 minutes before disappearing?

ye, I have noticed this myself, not sure why it was changed cos I'm pretty sure in .7 they stayed around for ages.

Would be good to also see if we can make grapple hooks destroyable ie, if you shoot them or knife them they would be destroyed, thou would be easier to knife than shoot them of course since they are soo thin

Same durability as the rallies? Would be nice to make those civilians fall to their death while climbing away.

I second this. Right now, I'm so paranoid about losing my grapple as the civvie that I keep pulling it out from under people who are trying to climb it. Nothing sucks more than being stuck on a rooftop because your grappling hook magically disappeared.

The Grapple Hook would be even cooler if you could use it to rappel from buildings. You kind of can but its really difficult. Or how about the ability for any solider to pick up a grappling hook. That would be nice to if you are scaling a mountain but your spec ops for engineer dies.

It's easier if you've played lots of Ghost Town (from SF exp.) and need to scurry onto roofs like rats.

If you didn't know yet, slowly go to the edge of the building, look at the ridge of the building and right click. It should land for the people on the bottom to get up, or for the people up top to get down.

If you're afraid of falling to your death, crouch or prone your way to the edge to be safe. Sprint not advised.

I'm up for this idea. It's a real bother having your hook disappear, and you're the only engineer/scout.

Just stand a few feet away from the edge, left-click and throw it down to the ground.

I support the Op's idea, makes alot of sense and i can't see it needing very much coding to change either.
The other idea of being able to 'cut' the rope is a cool one as well, is it possible to have it so you must be at the actually hook part of the grapple to cut it? Cutting the bottom foot off a rope someone is climbing and the top part suddenly vanishing seems a little stupid to me >_<;
