yeah they are heavy gunships, but i don't know if they are THAT slow.
hind: 335 km/h (208 mph)
apache: 158 knots (182 mph, 293 km/h)
like i said, heavy gunship with kinda low maneuverability and heavy loads for fast strikes called in by other units.
Secondly, dropping off troops is pretty much the opposite of what you want to do to survive and give air support.
please, the hind was made into a milti task aircraft, so why not use that in PR and let it house a full squad? there won't be enemies EVERYWHERE at a map with the size of kashan.
Thirdly, it doesn't fire explosve shells out of the nose gun, except when it's fixed as mentioned above
didn't say that, i said that it shouldn't be able to engage while hovering for balance issues.
fourthly it's missiles don't work terribly well (and so pretty much always get fired in twos)
i don't care about small stuff like that. have them heat up really quick so you only can fire 2-3 each volley!
fifthly, compared to other attack heloes, it's easy to hit with heat seeking missiles (model this by giving it less flares)...
either that coupled with higher armor, or only include the hind on maps against insurgents and militia that won't have static anti-air placements. other maps when the russians play against conventional forces, they could have a black shark instead or something.

i know i would **** myself if i saw this coming towards me while i was setting up an ambush on a hill as insurgent/militia:

Whoever brought up the PoE Hind,yea it's nice..But the USI Hind pwns all the hinds in BF2!

I want door gunners on my hind. I say, let it rain death. If the HIND is too powerful we'll offset it with the Javelin.

Good CAS begins with Intel provided by Troops on ground (PR) I know this by gunning on Muttrah. If you have a Spotter ( which you should, and preferably the SL) Let him spot things, this makes the Gunship usage SOOOO much better. If squads would relay the info on enemy movements, then you would find this support in-game.

Damn that's awesome. Looks kind of like that British chopper, forget the name.

O man I can't wait till Russians are in PR :D that's all I'll ever play.

Isn't the hind on of the fastes attack helicopeters in the world?

Anyway I think the hind should be like every attack helicopter in this game, exept it should not have exploading gun round and it should be able to carry troops in the back.

I swear the KA-60 is just a rip off of the HH-65a "Dolphin"..The Heli that the USCG use.(United States Coast Guard)..lol.

That thing looks nice though! :)

It's one of the least agile though. It's designed to do high-speed runs kind of like an A10.

No, changing real world capabilties for the sake of "balance" is exactly what will lead to PR being a bland mod. PR shouldn't be afraid of keeping things true to life and balancing it in other ways.

OFC I agree with this. I was pointing out that giving the hind its full capacity wouldn't be OP because attack helos and transport helos operate in almost opposite ways in PR. And moreover it can't do both at the same time. Transport helos want to avoid enemies, while Attack helos have to see them. The hind has to juggle two completely different and mutually exclusive roles.

And I'm saying it should, because there are other things that are wrong with it to balance it being able to do that.

I don't mind which version we get really, as long as we aren't deliberately gimping real world capabilities for the dubious sake of balance.

By this stage, I don't know what we're arguing... Let it fire them as fast as it wants. In real life they fire them in pairs because they don't trust the guidance systems on them...

No. Leave it lightly armoured because IRL hinds have a whole lot of design flaws that make them easy to shoot down. There are plenty of things going for this chopper without making it highly armoured.



I'd really like to see the Hind for the MEC, or perhaps the Militia in an upcoming map..

However many seats it has, I won´t be using something that takes 20 minutes to respawn to transport some guys and land somewhere.

lol did you even read my post? i said it SHOULD NOT hover, so i agree with you.

and Truism, you can pick the fixed machinegun version and still have it realistic as well as balances so it doesn't hover around and rape catches. don't be such a hind hater :roll:
