Hotwire enemy vehicles

Post by NiGHTWoLF »

Enemy vehicles, I'm not sure if this is just me or not but I think it wuld be cool if the engineer could hotwire vehicles. Like on CoD you could get in an enemy tank (not control it straight away) but capture it, this took about 1minute. I think it might be an idea to put this into the mod if at all do-able. Could use the Engineer wrench then after a while or so of twisting it the vehicle could be captured? 8)

You can't hotwire a tank. :p

But yeah, it makes sense. But in CoD it didn't make sense, what was he doig in there? replacing the steering so he can understand it? It won't work in BF2.

well it's not so much hotwiring it as the entire interface itself is different. To be more exact it's not that the apparatus is completely different but a russian tank is not likely to have their panels labelled in english, nor would their fire control computer have their GUI in english.

I thought tanks are turned on by a generator? Like the King Tiger in WW2?

Anyway its a verry good idea.

I think he is replaceing that troublesome LADA gearbox to a new flap-paddle gear system, you never know, mabey he just wanted to fit air-conditioning for a more sutable ride.

What about picking up a MEC engineer kit... does that mean we can understand... Whatever language they speak? Lol, That would be cool.

Let's just keep it so people can only control the opposing team's jeeps/cars/etc

agree above

hot wiring jeeps and stuff shouldnt be "too" hard

but hot wiring a tank is impossible

physically impossible as well, seeing as the M1A1 / A2 uses a gas turbine engine, i don't think you could tinker with it and get it to start ;)

But yeah, maybe say implicate engineer code into hotwiring jeeps, say like take a minute or 2 to get it to start.

Well look at it this way, would it be possible to steal an enemy tank? I'm not an expert or anything but from my view it would indeed be possible to steal a tank i mean look at that psyco dude in the US a while ago, he managed to get his way onto a US army base and steal a freakin tank. May be the use of the term hotwire was wrong lets try.....nick.

I agree with Nightwolf maybe you can steal it stop the other team from using it but maybe not be able to fire or anything since everything is in a foreign language and the operating system for firing is drastically differnet.
Of course if you are going for uber realsim you would have tank/pilot/apc clasess that are the only classes that you use them.
Also that guy who stole the Tank ended up driving it backwards and he was actually a national guardsman so had some expreince with tanks.

Still stole it, yeh could just be able to drive it and hide it from the other team, that would cause some trouble.

yeah being able to hide it and blow it up at leisure would really cause the other team problems espically with how they are planning to have really long spawn times on the tanks.
