I don't know if this is worth the effort but...

...it would be nice if the weapon slots on the aircraft are the same for each type. For example, to select an aa missile in the F16 you use slot 2, but in the warthog its slot 4 (i think). If the slots were made the same i.e. aa missiles are slot 4 on all aircraft, then it would be possible for people to assign a specific joystick button to that slot.

The reason this has relevance is because when you are in a dog fight and use the new controls to look up or left/right (using a HAT switch), you can assign a weapon to bring the view back to normal. If the slots were the same then down on the HAT switch would bring your aa missiles into play immedietly, rather than having to cycle back throught the weapons whilst following the enemy aircraft.

Keyboard users sould be unaffected as in say the F16 the next weapon in the cycle is the aa anyways.

Hope this isn't too confusing! :-P

to be honest i dont really think it matters too much...to me anyway. I have a joystick but no HAT switch so i use my left hand to select the weapon with the number keys. I just keep doing it till i get to the weapon i want. I always select the weapon i want early, save doing it in combat...

I honestly understand wheres he's coming from. I can see a purpose to this
