Re: [Map] Northern Iraq [WIP]
mix it up! i saw some pic of Firebases of marines in iraq who just used houses with some "hesco" around it. so make a mix of hesco, destroyable walls and maybe some barriers (search them in the pr_edit/objects/staticobjects/pr
good luck mate!

Re: [Map] Northern Iraq [WIP]
My map seems to have a major issue................it kinda wont load. The last saving crashed and now I get error messages everytime i try to load, working on the problem. Till i fix it, Operation MudPit is in my mind.

Re: [Map] Northern Iraq [WIP]
a tip: check (douple) if your map has all files that needed! (i got a problem, and that was that i missed files
...f**k editor)
...but maybe... Do you got overgrowth? (i not 100% sure but i think it is needed to play a map)
other wise give mor einfo about the "error" (alos if it doesnt show a message!)

Re: [Map] Northern Iraq [WIP]
ehhh, why are you running in 800x600? that may be the reason for your crash, the other is probably your our of memory and can't load that .dds file...

Re: [Map] Northern Iraq [WIP]
I'm sorry to announce to the Project Reality Community and the Turkish Forces Mod team that this project has been closed. Due to map failure to load due to me not saving correctly and a quality that i'm not happy with at all. I also would like to work on my next project Basra v2.

(Mods please dont lock thread, may start to remake it later and would rather use same thread.)

Re: [Map] Northern Iraq [WIP]
you already started your 2nd map wrong according to the pic....
dont just start placing statics anywhere... first build a proper terrain (not just a rough one)with proper textures and then insert your city, fields etc....people always do the same mistakes again

Re: [Map] Northern Iraq [WIP]
I figured that but I really want to base the rest of the map around the city. Once i'm done with the city mostly, ill place the colors and stuff but they are all built off the city.

...i also made this "mistake"

Re: [Map] Northern Iraq [WIP]
might sound weird but best thing for realism sake is to go through the process of building that it goes through in nature as well.... trust me.
first there is a terrain (+textures of course) and then the human being changes the landscape, not the other way round...this way you will get a far more realistic design of your map than just a completely plane city (now dont come up with " i got a few hills in it") and an adapted terrain around it...thats simply not realistic and doesnt look good .
i made the mistake as well in my first map but im currently completely reworking it but it would have been easier if i started right , right from the beginning on.

Re: [Map] Northern Iraq [WIP]
They're totally right. I may be a new map maker, but I found that out fast.
I can salvage the mini-urban enviroment I already made in the center of my map, but I deleted a whole desert village to start over because of this.
Terrain -> roads -> buildings is how I did it, and it looks much better already. Otherwise you get too many flat areas even if you added some elevation. When you apply the road spline to uneven terrain it looks much more realistic in that case.
Leveling out areas for buildings is great too. Much more natural.
