Proper Helicopter Insertion and Extraction Procedures
After being shot down transporting squads one too many times due to the transportee requesting a bad LZ, I decided to tell people how to do it right.
This is a tutorial on how to be inserted and extracted properly. It is my first major video project, taking me over a month to make.
The video was made in 1280x720 HD. Visit the video's Vimeo page to see it in HD.
On Tuesday an extended version of this will be up (Vimeo has upload restrictions), which contains extra footage of good (and bad) extractions/insertions, along with different music, different narration, and a section on supply drops.

very nice, just love the idea squads moving to sensible LZ.
I must admit after spending the last few weeks practicing copter flying I appreciate how much pilots have to put up with. Slopes are just hell your so right. And how people don't know that little amount of damage can make it nearly act like a brick.

Love the vid, problem with people is, it never works out like that, with some people in your squad u only just met at the start of the match.

But it can happen. If you have force and discipline.Cptkanito wrote:Love the vid, problem with people is, it never works out like that, with some people in your squad u only just met at the start of the match.

yeah nice tutorial, really clear and understandable =)
would love it if people would just do 50% of this. On pub servers it looks like this now:
some random squadleader of a 4man squad, which is spread over the whole map asks for extraction in the main base... the he says nothing for 2min and shoot with the minigu. After that, he maybe asnwers the question "where to?" with "Some where to action" or something similar...

Sorry for my bad english ^_^'

Or when you land people and they refuse to get out cause they want to go closer to the action....

Re: Proper Helicopter Insertion and Extraction Procedures
Thanks guys, I appreciate all of the positive feedback. It took me about a month to edit this, and I am glad I took the time to do it right.
In a few days Vimeo will give me my 500mb back and I'll post the extended version (~15 minutes with credits). It isn't meant to be as instructional as this one (I went as far as removing the Tactical Gamer spinning logo from the beginning), but it is a little bit funnier and has more footage (A near-perfect insertion/extraction, and a very, very bad insertion and extraction).
Again, I appreciate all of the feedback. Thanks, guys!

Re: Proper Helicopter Insertion and Extraction Procedures
really good Vid
Just one problem, Try deploying smoke when the chopper isnt in visual range, see what happens
(hint, it begins with no and ends in thing)
Because of this signal smokes are dam near useless and that pisses me offcos I love using them. To use them properly wait till you can hear the chopper or it's just on the horizon borderline then chuck
However because of the now (stupidly) long "smoke up" times, your smoke can is still a spazzing lil fluff ball by the time the chopper lands

great video might make people realise just how hard it is to land in a hot uneven LZ.

Good video. Can you upload bigger videos to Vimeo than Youtube?
