I'm getting this weird VOIP issue in game

Is anyone having this problem? If so what are you doing about it?

While in game I sometimes lose VOIP ability. I even lose my Teamspeak VOIP ability. I never get disconnected and I can still everything that goes on in game, and in TS. The only problem is that I'm not able to speak. It's as if I suddenly have no MIC at all.

Someone on Kashan Desert the other night told me of a way to fix it, but it still happens to me. When I ALT-TAB out of the game to desktop and make the change I can go back in game and everything works fine. Then about 10 to 15 minutes later it happens again.

I run everything on HIGH with 8x AA. Sound is ultrahigh, because I'm using an X-Fi Gamer sound card. I never had this issue until I upgraded my PC and a fresh install of Windows XP 64bit. I moved to XP 64bit so I can use my full compliment of 4 GB of ram. However, I don't think Windows XP 64 is the problem. Anyone have any ideas?

I get the problem some times as well- Try changing your sound processioning from X-fi the Hardware that seems to have worked for my buddy.

I'm stuck doing the ALT+TAB fix too.
About 3 times a game sometimes.

So far so good. Once I made those changes you suggested the issues have not come back. Only more testing will be needed to be certain, but it looks like you resolved it. I'll spread the word to my buds

Nope, it is still happening. Just not as often, but it did happen twice on the same map lastnight. Which hadn't happened since I made the change.

I'm also having an issue where I get dropped to desktop at the beginning of the 3rd map I load. Kinda strange. I'm not sure if the two are related or not.

Yep, ATM I'm also having the problem every now and then. As I recall at some point the system worked just perfect but after installing some beta driver it got messed up and I haven't been able to reverse it back to state where it was ok. But, I assume that there is some driver version which is working ok and with the correct sound level setup (described on the link) there won't be any problems.
