Rear View Mirrors for Jeeps

Post by DeltaFart »

I was thinking if we got different views for the Jets and Helicopters if we could have some rear view mirrors added to the transport and jeep class of vehicles? As it stands we need something to aid with rear moving situations. Say in insurgency we're in an Alley of Al Basrah and we realize we can't go any further we have to back out, but the alley isn't big enough to turn around. I wouldn't mind seeing if there are friendlies, enemy or civies behind me if I want to stay in the alley while Big Red goes by.
I searched it 3 things came up, one that I saw was related to this, one about APCs which is a moot point becuase of the commander cam, and the last one I beleive was about the jets.

Discuss (and hopefully this won't piss off Rhino)

In the hummer you can look out the back with the mouse, could be good in more vehicles though.
It is suggested before.

unfortunately a "mirror" is impossilbe, how ever there have been suggestions of a camera placed at the same angle of the mirror, thus giving you a view directly from the mirror, which i would like. not sure if this was taken up, but i recall it was shot down.

I'd rather be able to look back. I mean, while inside some vehicles you barely can move... which is awful to make a rear turn or for manoeuvring, for instance.

its doable, and I'd like it

best way imo would be something like the gun camera from attack helo gunners

do it like with the support trucks. if you hit "C", you get a better rear view, at the expense of not seeing being able to see forward.

Once again, i can only support this. Drivers should be able to see whats behind them, just like in real life. (Vehicles that don't have mirrors/cameras/windows excluded)

like the jets have different fixed camera positions, you could have a camera at where the left rear mirror is, just looking straight back along the car.

nah, I meant the mechanics of, press F, get rear view, press F again and you get normal

The choppers and 2man jets have proven that this is doable

and if Jets get a rear view, JEEPS SHOULD TOO.

Hey hey, something that most older guys actually like.
Yeah make it like the Jets like I said. First weapon is left second is right mirror. 3rd one can be center mirror if it has one
Whoever says the CO Trucks C btton doesn't allow you to see foward is mistaken. I usually drive in that setting since it allows better veiwing

I recon that just the rear would be enough, side mirrors are only really needed once your moving (unless were looking out for bikes on left hand turns at junctions :p ).

To be honest though, I reckon the camera should be able to turn all the way back anyway, the guy driving must have some sever back and neck problems...

The things are REALLY needed in APCs though, cos you have absolutely no idea what's goin on behind you at all obviously.

I totally agree, I say this a lot in game. The only way of doing that I know of, would be to have their be an alternate camera view when the driver presses the left or right mouse button; however, those are already taken. There may be a way to designate a different key to use, but I don't know.

DO the Jet way. Make 4th weapon left 5th weapon right and if applicable 6th weapon the center mirror

I really don't think anything beyond the rear is needed, you only really need left and right when your moving, and you only wanna be having a quick look at them anyway and keeping your eye mainly on where your driving. Could be used for reversing but I don't think many people are THAT bothered about the quality of their driving in PR, or at least I hope not.

There's one issue, the HMMWV doesn't have a rear view mirror :D Issue there
