not bad...hard to ignore the lag though..
I like how its almost like theres a storyline to it... MEC takig over north village , US recon calls for air support..MEC get owned a surviver in trucks try to get away and get wiped out..pretty good.

too much lag to be enjoyable.
and don't use music you've heard in other game movies.

Re: AH1Z Cobra is up on Vimeo
this is ALOT better than the BH movie trailer still points that could be worked on but good non he less. see how using simple BR files makes a film 100000x better ?
lag - ofc a problem, looked like you had high gfx ?? lower your gfx but try keep a reasonable high res .. try around with settings see what max gfx you can get whistle being able to film at good fps.
ingame footage - you can see name tags and text. expected for first time video (i had same) to remove put "renderer.drawhud 0" into console then "renderer.drawhud 1" into console to bring it back on (or other way round) this removes name text and tk messages ect. looks alot cleaner.
the BR footage - you didnt include the Q coms rose for pausing/starting that i saw, great ! but we still saw the compass which you can remove with the above drawhud command ^^. name tags in BR footage can be removed by editing a file , heres a quote how:
but overall massive improvement on the BH down trailer , again , my best advice would get some BR footage of a public game you had and edit to look cool, get the grips and then include friends/community members in bigger projects.

You can remove the tags with editing the file "GameLogicInit.con" located @ C:\Program Files\EA GAMES\Battlefield2\mods"Modname" Make a Back-up first. Then add the following line at the bottom of the text and(you can open it with notepad or w/e): renderer.drawNametags 0. Battledirctor does it automaticly so u dont have to change anything, but if you dont use BD then you have to change it, but also remove it as soon you want to play online again, or else you would be kicked.

I have to agree with the others, The lag just kinda kept me from really getting into the video. If you can find a way to drop the lag, it can be a great video.

Re: AH1Z Cobra is up on Vimeo
Very epic soundtrack for such a dull production, if you ask me.
I don't mean to push your head into the dirt or anything, but the action seemed almost... bland. The sniper team gets into position... and calls in CAS for 2 guys? I would have thought that a sniper can take out 2 guys, standing around like dopes... Perhaps if there had been a larger threat, such as a tank, or an APC, yeah. But 2 guys and a few supply trucks?
Then, the snipers are never heard of again, like they didn't even exist after the first minute? In some cases, this is fine... But when you go through all the trouble of loading them up into a huey (twice, once in slow-motion), and flying them to the position... only to ignore them after ALL that?
And, for those 2 guys and supply trucks, 2 cobras are sent out; suddenly, there is no one standing around and the cobras just blast away at the buildings randomly... then, it seems the MEC were having babies in the back room, and now theres 4 MEC running about and into the command trucks, shooting an L-AT at the Cobra without at least trying to aim at it, and overall idiocity. The Cobras now fly about 5m apart, which would surely go against helicopter pilot doctrine (too much of a risk for rotor entanglement, for sure).
At this point, the command trucks are killed (again: twice, once in slow-mo...), and then what happens?
A tank, which was never a part of the NV contact, or spotted by the sniper team, nothing; is found in the middle of nowhere, shot at with LGMs, and not even destroyed...? The music stops, and silent credits roll.
Some of this may seem nitpicky; but when you get SO MANY of these issues, it kills a movie. The concept is fine, at least there is a bit of a storyline trotting about underneath; the execution of the concept, is just not good. Also, in an attempt to kill the lag/super slow-mo, you should speed the movie by just a bit... maybe 1.2 times the speed it is currently, if you can find an editor to do that.
Here's also a hint; don't mask game sounds with music, the more gunfire, ambience, etc you here, almost the better. There are no game-sounds at ALL in the movie, and you have no change of music during lulls in the action (why have such an epic soundtrack, watching a sniper team on a hill, that doesn't even take a shot?).
Good for a first movie; but as a critique, no replay value whatsoever.

Re: AH1Z Cobra is up on Vimeo
I agree with most people here i think it was a great first movie, i like fact that it was thought out and not just, for use of a better word, done. There are a few things that have already been mentioned alot like the lag and the hud both should be removed for every movie you do from now on. But great job and keep making movies.
Also if you want to check a few movies i did for Desert Combat and Forgotten Hope ill post them for ya:
Saints and Soldiers - Desert Combat one, and my first attempt at a machinima film
Saints and Soldiers 2 - The one in Forgotten Hope 1
Suprized actually SaS 2 had like 1000 more downloads than the first one, personally i like the first one better, more skill was involved when we were filming...however more skill was involved for me editing the second.
Watch and let me know what you think...keep in mind you couldnt do more than half the stuff u could do in vanilla BF2 let alone the, oh lets say, 80% more stuff u could do in PR compared to these....for instance even getting up and lying down cause some weird animation problems....as shown in the bloopers of the first movie, anyway i havent created a movie in PR yet and probably will eventually but let me know what u guys think.....oh yea and before i forget make sure u guys note before watching that all voice acting was done on computer mics and by people who have never done voice acting before....haha and just ignore the "boy im gonna smack you" line in the second haha

Nice video MP5. I think the best videos are the ones filmed using fraps in first person. It's good to hear the communication during the video I think.
Here's my first one and it was just about teamplay. I made this video to encourage new players to PR (which worked). I did not include maps that clear servers out like the large desert ones.

Overall good work. The lag didnt bother me either.

Re: AH1Z Cobra is up on Vimeo
You have gotten a lot better, the PR Action Movie has some really great shots and angles i see a huge improvement, you should try filming a story driven movie. Try sticking away from the old school transitions (ie. the one that comes from the bottom and the one that flips in). the shot on the .50 cal when its kind of on its side is a great shot, so is the one when ur in the middle of the construction yard. Keep up the good work and check out my vids i posted below.mp5punk wrote:haha wow havent heard of this thread for a long time, but yea you shoud see some of my current videos i just posted, Project Reality Action Movie on Vimeo and my .85 gameplay video Untitled on Vimeo
