I believe the rant has more to do with the fact that the game has a slower pace now. So you pretty much get 1/3 for the action you used to get in the same time.

So yes it does go in a direction of a certain player base, those who don't mind spending 5-10 minutes getting in position to either flank/cap/defend a position. So this indeed means that players who are looking at some good action in a game will feel dissatisfied, while those who are more into construction and maneuvers while be rewarded.

So Random pants its not about having lives, its about what each player is looking for. And you seem to be the kind of player whole ultimately need more and more hours to get the same satisfaction you used to get as PR evolves.

And this is coming from a guy who runs his own business, goes out to do some photography and er spends too much time moderating

But to get that quick action fix, I just join an Insurgency map :D

I'm totally satisfied.
Same for me now as well. Except the aprentice cook im an intern. I already "planned" a game of PR for upcoming friday and Im looking forward to it already!

Sure I would like to play as much as I used to before I was Intern. But now I also got some clients I need to build a website for, my own hobby/ wii review website and ofcourse my school projects. So there isnt that much time on weekdays to play. Every other day I try to squeeze of at least one hour of gaming. Pr can be played fine in that matter of time altough I always stay longer because I want to see the round end.

I know the Topic starter feeling though. PR can easily be given the same addiction level as an MMO if you like PR.

I'd love to pull a Sadist-Cane some weekend though! 13 hours straight! I hope the server stays populated or doesnt kick me in between though!

Imo PR is probably the only game i ever tried, were you have to be alive and kicking while playing it. I just dont go on a server to play a little, and chit chat. If i play i have to be psyched for it. So for me its kinda selfregulatory, i cant play a game and be only be "half-present" and after a couple of hours of being "on" i have had my kick, and quit.
As for the question if PR is for people with no life ? hmm Lifes what you make it. everything can be taken to the extreme. I also play music, and often on tour,or after months in a studio surronded by the same people. I feel i have absolutetly no life at all Ha ha.And just the thought of being home by myself, being able to chose to play a round of PR or whatever i can dream of. Really represents having a life.
we are all "wasting" our time all the time. the art of living, is just wasting it in a way we feel good about.

Well if you need to play a variety of maps in one sitting to have fun I agree, this game is not for you. Playing one regular map takes between one and two hours.
But I would rather have an intense experience with a lot of close calls and twists throughout the game, than chew through 4 10 min games on Vanilla.

Also kudos to DrKniSh (post above mine), I agree if you want to have fun in PR you have to be in it 100% not just to kill time. There are better games for that and its frustrating for the other players if you are not at it 100%.

As for myself besides playing PR iam in trading (which resembles more a videogame than everything else thesedays :p ) I work out about 4-5 times a week (never been using roids or stuff) am into diving (tip for divers, you know that gauge that shows how much oxygen is left in the bottle ? Use it :p ) and dickin around with my pals (saw Hellboy 2 with them yesterday at the cinema, guys go to the cinema dont dl).

Other people have lifes too and well, they managed to waste quite some time in the eve on TV just fine. We play vid games instead. Heck if it wouldnt have been for my pals I would have never known about californication, which is rather amusing.

Full time Uni student, (though all my classes have computers with internet connection... probably why I'm always here) Work two part time jobs on the days I'm not at Uni. Go to Canada every other week, hang out with friends a few days a week, go and earn some extra cash cleaning up the place I work part time at every other week, just finished painting an addition onto the house I live in, and then I joined the PRT. I've got time for PR because it's something I enjoy. I can meet up with friends who are at Uni out of state, I can meet interesting people from countries I've never been to. Do I play PR to much? No, I've got time for everything else in my life and I'm happy. If spending long periods of time on PR isn't fun for you, fine, it's not for everyone, but don't try and insult those of us who do by saying we have no life, or you'll run into people like Cain :D

Live your life.

That is what it boils down to. If you want to spend hours playing a game, who am I or anyone else to tell you not to. It's your life so live it how you want.

Now this game is for anyone. It doesn't matter how much you do in the day, how hectic your life is. It's how you prioritise stuff. For example, for me, real life and school especially comes before my R-COM(MUNIST) stuff or PRT stuff, but I still do both and real life seems to treating me okay. I'm watching the new James Bond with my girlfriend on Friday(before any of you U.S chumps :p ), I also have some Coursework to do over this half term, not to mention any of the PRT stuff and R-COM(MUNIST) stuff, and finally get to play PR! The order I do things in is important to how my life works out, I mean if I concentrate on my gf and PR stuff, I'll probably fail school, which I kinda don't want to do, but if I do, I have no one to blame except me, it's my life , to do with how I please, but if I screw it up, no one to blame except yours truly.

To be honest I see what you are saying, to you it might seem crazy to 'waste' hours playing a stupid video game, but to many other it's not, remember that the world would be a very boring place if everyone agreed on everything.

If I didnt have PR... my god. I'd browse 4chan even more, hang out and be bored with friends IRL, and continue to play crappy games that are produced in a weeks time and kicked out into stores half finished.

I'm hoping I can take what I learn from PR, make some sort of portfolio[which is why I need to branch out from mapping], no matter how small, and make use of it in the future. Maybe even work for PR the company ;)

QFT. end of thread. full stop.

the thing about PR is it needs long games for teamwork to thrive like it dose, if round where quick fast passed , well thats called vbf2. you cant have both.

i go to college full time, and have alot of RL friends (was voted mr funny last year of school *e-peenor wave*) i go out on weekends frequently and get uber pwned, but there is also times when some 1 asked me to go down town and i said no so i can play PR... fact is im a GAMER.... i play games, and at the moment that game is PR. saying people dont have a life because they play more than you is ... well id get warned for swearing so no.

I don't have a life and I play PR all the time. Well, that's not really true. I don't really play PR ALL the time. I spend the rest of the time not having a life.

I scoff at people who quit the game when rounds are going bad instead of sticking through the long, monotonous treks across the map and swift asskickings delivered by the other team.

I hope that in .9 PR will have us waiting for 8 hours before engaging in combat, performing such entertaining tasks like burning the waste out of latrines and loading magazines.

Then it'll be even more hardcore.

Random, you're not the only one "with a life".

You're just the only one with a life who feels pissy that the direction of the mod isn't neccessarily the direction you'd like it to be going in, and therefore starts saying that other people don't have them if they play PR more than you.

Seriously, drop the superior attitude. You've been over these forums like a bad-tempered sow recently.
