mine fields ???

Post by sittingduck911 »

I did a quick search of the forums and didn’t come across this.

I am planning on making a new map and was wondering if it would be possible to set up mine fields with triggarables? Say you have a trigger set by motion with a radius of about 3 feet so when you’re right on it it sets off a grenade like explosion.

If so would it be possible to set these up like the caches in the insurgency game mode so they move around the map each with each new round?

AT Minefields are legal only if they are clearly marked, however.

I assume it's possible, but I'm no mapper.

I know that you can use the trip flare code to make it explode. You just have to experiment with the .init files so that if someone trips the trip flare, it will set off a grenade. I had it working at one point, but I forgot what exactly I did.

For the randomized location stuff you could try looking at the maps that have those to try and get some ideas.

forgotten hope 2 has a lot of minefields that are marked. pretty cool.
i wish there would be planes that could carpetdrop mines over an area. dunno if that's realistic but it would be badass.

Why bother with planes when artillery can do it much better?

Area Denial Anti-personnel Mine (ADAM)

There's also the DPICM, while not a "mine" delivery system, it's still cool.

America is not at war. The American military is at war. America is at the mall.

I could see them added to a faction like MEC or militia, who I'm pretty sure don't care much about international law. If you're strong enough to take on the West and not get flattened, there's really no reason for you to follow the rules. Of course, it would screw with balance, because then the law-abiding NATO forces have to deal with AP mines while they themselves won't use them.
