inf or apc should retrive a pilot in distress. One time on ramiel our black hawk got downed in the most eastern village at the bottom right. Most survived the crash and the medics took care of the wounded. We pretty much protected the pilot till he was retrived by a LB.

Downed pilots running through enemy territory with a pistol just don't fit PR's gameplay very well.

Again, it's so difficult to survive a helo disaster in PR, how many chances do you get to even do this?

I've done it 3 times, Twice on Kashan, once on Basrah. One of the problems though with pilots running through the landscape is most of the maps with pilots able to bail out are either cities with a depressing lack of enterable buildings and open desert. What we need are pilots on heavily forested maps where they can attempt to evade capture.

What really needs to happen as most of you have said is to make the vehicle getting destroyed survivable. If there was some way to automatically make the pilot eject 80 or so percent of the time, we'd see this a lot more often.

Pilots don't need to be modified themselves to be part of some stupid 'Save the Pilot' mini-game. The possibility of their survival right now is so low, this entire thread is pointless without mentioning those helicopter explosions.

You can still bail if your on fire etc, it's a pretty low survival rate, but still. It'd be nice if crashes were more survivable though.

I don't see the problem with the "mini-game" anyway, pilots are a valued asset in real life, and I'm preeeety sure if one was shot down and survived people would make some effort to rescue them.
