When trying to set down bunkers, fire bases, wire, etc… it can be hard to get things where you want even when you know the distances, and when you try to make it perfect it takes time to place a waypoint and move to the correct distance. My suggestion is to make a weapon slot that is a reference to where the object will be placed. When you have the reference up it shows you a line in front of the player showing them the distance out each item would be placed.
Ex: ----AA-----wire-----SB/HMG-----FB/BKR
Or you could make everything built at the same distance and do a line like this.
Ex: -----------------------------------------object
Or you could make a transparent model of the objects or an object to represent everything and just place it out in front of the player the needed distance. If you wanted to keep the distances as they are now you could make each model bunker, fire base, wire, etc… transparent then when you select the reference slot it shows the closes object the AA transparent, then you could press right click to change to the next model in the line which would be wire(I think), then you could press right click again to go to the next one, so on and so on. You have double zoom on the sniper so it should work. This would require no animation so it would be fast to implant, it would just be a weapon that when you zoom goes to the next transparent model.
I don’t know if the SL has enough weapon slots, but you could put it under 9 like the engineers mine/rope.

Re: build reference
I dunno if you ever played as SL in 0.8 or if you hit key 9 as SL, but since 0.8 slot 9 of SL is loaded with a Fraction-unique smoke.
Aside from that for me there is no need for your suggestion, placing a waypoint for correct distance is fair enough and takes about 2 seconds to place.
And finally, just think over if it is worth the effort of programming such thing? Only SL would benefit from it, not the whole team, do we really need that?
EDIT: I play 95% of the time as SL, so I know how it is to buildfirebases/bunkers in many different situations.

Re: build reference
I have yet to press 9 in .8 as SL so I did not know about the smoke, I do agree that placing waypoints is fast, but its not accurate. How many times has the object been forced on top of you or your team because its an inch in the wall, or you second guess the placement of an HMG. With transparent models this would no longer happen, you could build it once and build it right. It would also help the learning curve of new SL players. I have a friend who never goes SL because he deos not want to piss people off learning on the job, this would stop that. I think this would build better forward outposts that people would want to stay and man because it is built right.
