Tank driver IR view

Post by thepalerider »

Anyone care to comment on the Tank drivers IR view in v.8?
I heard a rumor the Tank drivers IR view helps make the gunners rounds more accurate. Anyone agree?

The only reason of the ir-view is, the ability to see laser marks. So you can see if you are going to get screw by an A-10

can you see the laser box?

IMO the drivers veiw should be able to see the green box projected from the GLTD(can you already i dont drive much nor if i do i dont use the IR i just look and tell) and the gunner should be able to see it also(obviously not able to lock on to it)but this would help with armor supporting the infantry so that the squad leader can designate the enemy personel then the gunner of the tank can see the box and a few heat rounds later your infantry are assaulting south bunker (Example) also would it be possible for the driver to lase targets aswell, i know that some tanks have the capability to designate targets?

News to me, if you can, great!

I don't notice any difference between IR and normal view, though I do find it irritating that sometimes the gunner will get a hit and the drive think it has missed, I'm fairly sure this is known about.

AFAIK the driver can't do anything with the IR view that would help the gunner's aim.

The current tank driver view is of a tank commander. His job is to call out targets, place laser targets and help the gunner place rounds on target. A good tank crew working together can destroy a whole armored unit if they use there tanks skills to overcome there opponents.

I like the fact that in the IR view, you get range details. So for e.g if you're telling the gunner to look at 300degrees but he cant see anything, you can say, it's 850 metres or whatever. Then they kind of know to stop looking at the hill straight in front of you and look at the hill a long way away. If that makes sense?

the IR view cannot see lase marks. all it is, is a black and white screan that can sometimes see movement a lot easier and dark objects like vehicles will become slightly more obvious. good for guys who have an unhealthy amount of hours experiance as crewmen.

like me :D

Yes Kontrollturm the commander of a tank has the ability to designate targets with a built in GLTD on some tanks i have some book on tanks and it says on one of the articles that some do. althogh this is not in game ATM and i dont know if it will be implemented.
