it was in response to a question someone asked. if you wanted to kick someone imho the person to kick would have been the one who started it by saying "cheaper to send an SF since you dont have to pay them when they die" .

and I think putting any sort of price tag on a soldier whatsoever warrants at least a kick.

VA benefits are not a price tag on soliders, im the person who was kicked and my father was in the vietnam war. its odd that its ok to say "cheaper to send an SF since you dont have to pay them when they die" and not ok to explain what the VA does for US soliders when the question comes up.

I was not there, so I cannot give a accurate account of the reasons for the actions taken, and if our admins want to post their side of it, I'm sure they will.


BUT, from what I have read here, I will say this:

There were two possible reasons for the kick. Spam, and the offensive nature of the spam.

Our admins were probably playing, and noticed a lengthy non-game related conversation going on, blocking out game-related information and coordination. Anything that does this is likely to be considered spam, any participant is a spammer. Whether they started it or not, they are contributing to the problem. None of the admins wants to get in a "he started it"/"no he did" argument. Therefore, it doesn't really matter who started it, the only thing that matters is who is participating it.

If the person who started it was the only participant, the whole thing wouldn't have happened, right? By responding to the spam, you encourage more spam. The best course of action is to completely ignore it and focus on the game. You don't have to answer every question thrown at you, and neither do the 60-some other people on the server.




There are a lot of people who would consider comments about such benefits cynical, whether or not they were meant to be. Consider the following hypothetical statement:

A: Dead puppies cost more to the owner because of burial than living ones. Food is cheap.

Someone could look at that and think either "Hey, that is interesting." or "OMFG! That person thinks of puppies purely as dollars and cents, not as a living creature!"

The comments mentioned previously (such as the "legroom" comment) certainly are not appropriate. The admin may not have even seen the comment.






The bottom line:

The entire conversation was spam. We do not like chat spam on our server.

Anything dealing with our soldiers is sensitive, and should not be brought up in a video game. Conversations in video games go south fast. If doesn't matter if you were citing fact, fiction, a quote from Shakespeare, or making a joke. Please, simply just avoid sensitive subjects if you do ever wish to engage in a small conversation in server chat. It saves us all time and effort.



Another contributing factor is that we, as a community, have seen a decline in the quality of play on our server, and we want to stop this, so our admins may be a bit more aggressive in their actions than usual. Random global chat (spam) has been one of the cited factors for the decline.

I hope this satisfies the thirst of this conversation here. Come to our server to play in an environment focused on teamwork, maturity, and more important, the game.

I Was at this round when it happened. I Can not think of any good reason for why the player was kicked. But I did not see it all so I can't say any more than that.

But I have noticed of late that the admins are on a kicking frenzy for any chatting in game. This is not a good thing in my eyes. Some days ago. A player was bragging about a headshot he had just pulled off. Some may say it was smack talk, But there was no bad language and no real malice in what the player was saying/typing. I know I would not have paid any heed to it. But within 2 secs of him typing it up. He was kicked. I Did not see him get a warning or anything. I My self asked if bragging now gets you kicked? (Not them exact words but something along the same lines) And the answer was yes. This to me is almost like censorship of a very bad kind.

If some players wish to have a chat in game. Let them. I See no reason at all to kick players for chatting in a sensible manner. Especially if they are a paying "Supporting Members".

just a suggestion (and yes i am a SM) warn first, then kick. being told 'stop talking about' would have solved it on my end without a kick. i just saw 'i dont find that joke funny' then 'kicked from server' .

I've noticed a decline in respect in this server. It isn't happening with randoms or regulars, its happening with certain in house squads. I'm not going to name any but I've been kinda bullied around lately, and I'm sure that I'm not the only one who has been noticing this. One incident, we were playing the map Kashan 16 and my squad mate and i recently died in our vodnik while trying to defend north bunker. Our sq lead told us to spawn in at the firebase that had a vodnik spawn in. When we spawned we just loaded up in the vodnik, few secs later, someone rammed us with another vodnik. I was thinking it was one of those retarded randoms who jump in the server to spread havoc around but it was a sq leader of a TG in house squad who rammed me. I was actually a bit shocked when this happened! He rammed me straight on with another vodnik and then he told me to "get out of the vodnik" like he was superior to me. I got out and then he said "too bad you're walking", i wanted to say something but i didn't because i was scared that if i said anything back he would've kicked me or he wouldn't give a ****. Him and his squad drove off, leaving me to walk to the bunker complex. These kind of incidents have happened a few times to me and I'm sure to other people. Even though they aren't saying "you're a noob, give us the vodnik" (which i don't think i am because I've been playing pr for a while now) it still gives the sense that some individuals of In-house squads think they are superior and better than us regular players. Which means that some are kind of giving off an elitist attitude they strive to stay away from.

I have to say that TG is one of the best PR servers out there right now and it is basically the only server I play on,(besides the occasional training) i've become a regular there. If anyone in the In-house squads reads this please remind your squad mates about the TG Primer Tactical Gamer Primer

Not all in-house squads are like that but you are right there are 2-3 guys which think they are better because i dunno they bought TGs one year premium package or whatever... I kinda had this problem with a in-house guy 2 weeks ago on a inf only map... I told him a few times we cannot break through the enmy line cause there are 4 squads and we are allone... And his answer: I dont care you have to do what i say... (his order= Run through the enemy lines).

But you are right there are always people which think they are better than other... @ all

@Tofu: You're totally allowed to bring up incidents like that. In fact, it's encouraged because it often helps remind everyone to enjoy playing "the TG way". Now I was there, and I apologize on behalf of what happened. I'm not going to name anyone but I know the person who rammed you was having a bad day, and I hope you'll understand he did not mean it.

@viper: I was also there, and the admin that was present (again, not naming anyone), was actually warning EVERYONE for quite some time to drop the subject. I don't know about you, but that usually means to well, drop the subject immediately. When many players continued on, he had to pause the server start kicking.

For the record, our admins treat everyone fairly, supporting member or not. Find yourself breaking a rule and not listening to an admin in game, and you'll find action taken against yourself, supporting member or not. I'm positive they also have protocol to follow when dealing with these kinds of situations, and I saw that he did indeed, warn, then kick.

On the bright side from what I've read, it was just a kick, and not a ban. I really see no more point in discussing this incident here, but if you wish to discuss it with an admin, then you can click on the "Contact an Admin" link in my signature and post a thread there.

Okay, i totally understand that he was having a bad day but that hasn't been the only time this has happened not to that particular person but with some other individuals. I'll actually post this on the TG forum just to give a reminder to people.

As a player that likes to play on the TG server more than any other I would just like to say that I agree with this direction and attitude. If folks want to chat there is always x-fire or a multitude of other chat/messenger programs.

In game the dialog should be kept for squad leaders communicating to each other when there is no commander and for reports of enemy movement. Its very easy to miss something when the chat channel is getting flooded, and you dont want to have to be wandering about with the console open all the time trying to pick out useful information from background noise.

Keeping the network free of chatter is just another aspect of the 'reality' of the mod.

I think the admins do a fine job, and if that means having to be strict and sometimes err on the side of being too strict, then so be it ... you guys maintain one of the best PR servers by far. It is true that as PR is becoming more popular that more and more the less savoury characters are beginning to appear, and I think folks should stop a minute and think about the admins and the workload that perhaps they are trying to put up with. Having been in such situations myself I know that sometimes it can start to get on top of you, interfere with your game and patience goes out the window ... so spare a little thought for the admins and the pressure they are under, and just try and help to make their job a little easier ... thats if you like the server and you like playing there. The game is a product of everyone who is playing, everyone needs to try and make it fun and enjoyable.

Saying that though ... I think a warning should precede a kick, especially if there are a few members of a clan on , and its just one of the members who is being a bit lippy or bending the rules. I have had this happen recently ... I was not really reading the chat and therefore did not realize what was being said until the warning came, but when I was made aware of what was going on (the BIG GREEN LETTERS ), then the respective person was told in vent to cut it out, and to quit being lippy.

This is often the best way to sort things out, and admins and clans should pull together to try and make the server the great place it is, and to achieve that with as much damage limitation as possible.

@ Chat spam: Yes, we don't have much tolerance for chat that is not related to the game. Start a political thread going in chat and you can expect it to be shut down. We prefer the chat to be used for game-related purposes. There are several players who do not have a mic or for whatever reason cannot use one and they rely on chat to relay information to their squad and their teammates. This information gets lost in the shuffle of "spam" chat. People come to TG to play a tactical game, and anything that disrupts this is going to be removed by the admins. The server isn't a chat room.

@ kicks without warnings: As has been mentioned by Helix above, we find most warnings and even the giant green chat from the admins goes ignored by most players. It simply scrolls by too fast to be read, or players are engaged in what is going in the game and don't notice it. A kick will always get your attention. Like it or not, that's simply the way that it is.

@ "elitist IHS": Do you guys have problems with other people on the server, or just certain members of an IHS? Have you guys ever done anything that could rub someone the wrong way on the server before? Decline in respect in the server? Yeah - read this post.

I have never cheated and I think I am pretty good teamplayer with voip. But every time I try to join tactical (somtetimes when the time isnt for the favor of the EU servers) I get refused and the popup says : You have been kicked/banned/voted out by admins... bla blabla.

And there is like 15 open slots when I try. And I have played only 5 times at tactical.

just because a question like that or any non-related question that is solely asked/said to draw attention to someone is asked in global or team chat on any server for that matter doesn't mean you should always answer it or start a discussion about it.

I think any admin/player would agree with me on that one, there are forums on all of these servers for several reasons..or squad up with him next time and you 2 can discuss it if you are in a 2 man squad together.

IMHO that is what the forums are for, post a screenshot and talk about it, make an after action report and talk about it.

Bragging in PR is another word for un-sportsmanlike conduct, saying it intentionally in global chat is that and also trying to draw attention to yourself....

On the loading up screen there are several things that are listed in the lower right hand corner, Maturity is one of them..........TG is not the only server that post things like that many if not all PR servers having similar sayings along those lines.

Hey guys, I'd like to point out that as supporting member, a member of an IHS and just a long term regular player at TG I don't particularly like reading immature comments in all chat when playing. We have a rule to prevent the spamming of chat and discussion of non game related topics for a reason. Why should anyone's game experience be interupted by what someone thinks passes as wit these days. There is no question of censorship as in-game is not a forum, these things don't require censorship as they should not be discussed. Everyone likes a laugh but TG is a place that people go to play tactically, if you want to spam chat get a blog or something or post it on a forum. It does get in the way as it obscures part of the screen. Let the rest of us get on with our game.

I understand people who support it don't always get a chance to play because the server is filled but kicking people who are in it just so supporters can play is really lame, fix that please.
