CTD? Look here

Post by TF6049 »

There is some serious mass-CTD'ing in PR servers. Though I don't think this will help, it's worth a try.

Use auto-ready to join the game, or wait 10 seconds before joining. I will post more information as I get it.

Devs please look into this issue. It's not just me, I have heard from a lot of others that the servers are crashing. Post any information you acquire here.

To the general public: don't post complaining about the problem unless you have specifics (like what error message you get, how long you can stay in the server before the crash, and so on) or information that might otherwise help the rest of the public or the dev's

UPDATE 1
-There are a few secure servers. They are locked, and the only one unlocked is the TG server (which is always full), leading me to believe that a hacker or glitcher actually went in to each server and messed with something. Try restarting the server. If this doesn't work, maybe ask your server provider to give you a different server. Also, vBF works fine, so this is definately a PR or server-specific issue.

Our server (EEF) have been crashing on several occasions after some commander have been playing with the command marks on the map. He has written "EEF SUCKS" with the "Enemy Infantry" mark a few times now and after that the server crashes. I thought he used some hack but according to a squad mate the overload of CO marks cause the crashing. Might be one reason, that CO's play around with those marks.

its the BF2 server hack its crashing all the servers, and causing the client to CTD, i dont think it has anything to do with PR.

There is a mass attack atm against all the PR servers causing them to all crash.

Gunna have to hold our breath til 1.5 bf2 patch comes out.

I think that hacker (the same one that I made the hacker alert thread about) has something to do with this. All of this started at about the same time he went on ETU and crashed it.

thought it was an issue with newer video cards or a memory leak.
the punkbuster B denial is worse. i have to close down pr and boot it up again to be able to join the server.

Go to an empty server, load up above 50% then hit esc. After that, load whatever server you want. You only have to do this once per time you start up PR, and every time I've done it, I never get a Punkbuster error.

I hardly ever got CTDs but now i get it every single time a join a server, either on "deployment" or A little while into the game. The wierd thing though is that there are some people still playing on the server when i crash. It's like.. only me and maybe a few others who are crashing. Just came back from getting a CTD, while flying the Chinese 2 seater. :? ??:

Hacking most of the time or a client side issue (in which case full reinstall with a registry clean up)

a way hackers crash a server (or kick the players, i dunno) is that they use a namechanger and join the server with the same name as someone playing. this is obviously a big no-no in bf2 and the game crashes.
hopefully this is one of the things the 1.5 patch will fix.
