[question] combat zones and not deleting properly

I have a slight problem with the editor that freaks me out. I created a dome of death for team 1 and inverted it. Means team 1 should be affected once it enters it. However when startting it ingame, the whole map is hostile for team1. I rechecked a few times. Another problem related to it is that when I delete the combat zone, it reappears when loading the map. Also deleting it and saving after it wond work. As if the editor does not recognize the change as savable. what is going on here?

editor has alot of problems handling combat zones...

if you want to delete an existing combat zone better to do it via the game play objects file. or gpo.con...


right at the end of the file..

A number of problems can occur...

1. the editor resaves the combat zone but in fact doubles it..(ie makes the combat zone ref points twice in the file) this results in boom you are dead when loading..

solution. Delete the combat zone in the gpo.con and redo it once and once only..

2. Make sure you make the combat zone counter clockwise.. that will make an exclusion zone outside your combat zone.. if you make it clockwise it should make an inclusion zone inside those points... again....you can edit the gpo.con manually to invert of whatever you need to do...


essentially create the combat zone points in the editor...save it...then edit the gpo.con... dont attempt to delete/create multiple combat zones in one session...editor is retarded and cannot handle all those tasks at once...

solution. Delete the combat zone in the gpo.con and redo it once and once only..
or open the gpo, search for the last areapoint and delete the doubled part.

Should not the invert handle this?

yes...but doing it counter clockwise from the start makes you not need to click the invert tab...leading to cleaner save...less variables...

regardless its VERY fixable so dont stress it... :)

I got it working. However I am so paranoid about this thing now that I am too scared moving the mouse near the combat area button.

What do you mean by stress?
