Plans for a rear gun on the Chinook

Will it be fixed to the hatch? Like, when it's closed, the gun goes up to? Or will it be planted on the floor on the interior? Perhaps it can be fitted ABOVE the hatch, on the exterior, like a tail gun of some sorts. And will it have a grenade launcher?

could be, just think i saw a vid some time ago of a minigun fitted on the ramp, very much doubt we will put a minigun back there but just thought I would mention it :p

That was a Sea Knight.

Definitely needs at least an M60.

Ah! I remember now, thanks.

How about a minigun that fits like the mini's on Halo 2's Pelicans? They are built on the ceiling and hang down over the hatch a little, so the troops wont get blasted, and will walk around them.

Yes, and on a side note, it might be nice to replace it with the new UH-1Y on delivery to the marines since '08. Higher payload, faster and harder to shoot down.

I have not seen confirmation of capability to mount the miniguns on the ramp; only M60/M240 and M2 (old photo, though). With regards to the RAF Chinooks, the MoD does not seem to think the minigun can go on the ramp:
