i only have limited experience with l85 so cant really comment on the recoil. but the ballistics are not realistic as its not possible to recreate real ballistics with bf2 IIRC

^ well the ballistics are being redone, they are working around a bug, so good luck to them

Have fired a few military rifles in single shot from prone postion, the .223 in real life is a very light recoil represented well in game, the 7.62x39 is not that much different in felt recoil although it does have a larger muzzle flip and the 7.62x51 although ive never fired it from a G3 is loud, uncomfortable after several shots and does take a while to bring the sights back onto target. So yeah they are represented quite well in game i think, accuracy however is another issue

G3 recoil is to heavy to be realistic, thats the one and only thing I know

I've fired SA80s(Both L85s and L86s) and the recoil is pretty realistic.

Yer they got all the .223's pretty realistic in terms of muzzle climb.
