Reality Mod + Cheats

Post by Tomcat »

Maybe this has been touched before...not so sure...

But how do you indent to keep cheats/hackers out in a mod...don't know in depth what DC was like...

But the way i see it...someone needs to make new md5tool checks for the mod specific...for the new/modified files....

Is that something that you are planning of doing..?

Like bf1942, v1.6, there should be a anti cheat/hack program included in BF2, we (PR) cant do anything against hackers, we just need to hope that BF2 anti hack program is effectif

One thing all servers CAN do to help prevent the RFA hackers from even joinging is running a pure server. Basically, you have to have perfect, untouched files to play. So everyone is on a level playing field.

Its quite difficult to check if the files are "un edited" the anticheat program have to control every bit of the file (several megabites) thats also why it takes a several minuts before getting kicked.

without trying to be smartass...cause probably u all know more than i do..in my experience with PB for AA and JO...there are some file checks (pb_sc_file) that checking the digital signature of specific files...
also some md5tools...that check the digital signature of quite a few files...

i guess..because the files containing the script will be modified...new digital signatures need to be created....

pretty sure...EA will help on that...

I know what you mean. Fortunately, BF is one of the least taffected games by cheats. This is not to say BF has no cheats, but compared to AA or CS, totally different proportions. We will have to investigate the md5 check once we get closer to release.

[BFCentral.ca]: What will you do about cheating? "Good" old PunkBuster or will a new anti-cheat system be implemented for BF2?

[DICE]: Punkbuster will be included in BF2. We are also including some new technology designed to thwart the hacker. I won’t go into any more details than that.

Cheating really isnt as big a problem as its made out to be. I have NEVER seen PB catch a cheater, and to be honest never really thought someone was cheating. However I have been acused of it, like when I got 100 some kills with the MG42 on Charlie Sector in FH. man were those guys mad. However AA has more of it than BF, many times have I suspected people on my team of cheating, there was a guy on hospital who would sprint into the garage entrance everytime and just know wich way to go for the VIP and got him EVERY time. Not once did the VIP escape except a few times when the guy got killed.

Those who are caught cheating while playing Project Reality will be personally attended to by me. Their software will be put into a state in which cheating will no longer be possible.

Hardware problems are so much better though. How about you destroy the software and then Cpt. Sniper can take a field trip, infiltrate their residence and properly deal with their hardware (preforably voiding their warranty).
