Stabbing tire's

Post by M4sherman »

I checked Knifing,Stabbng and tires and none Had my suggestion

Ok I dont know about APC tires but I do know that truck tires (I did this on 38in super swampers) Are very prone to knife stabs and about 4 good jabs with a 6in dear knife will cut a nice square in one that no air compressor can keep up.

So my suggestion is that if any truck tire takes 4+ knife hits it goes flat and has to be repaired

Could be cool to see it work. It would just be downer whenever your squad need a car at a FB and some jerk has stabbed the tires for fun. Though realistic to be in the middle of nowhere with flat tires, but it would happen so often.

If hotwiring, and fast ropes won't work with this game, then knifing of tires definitly wont!

Would love to see the first squad rushing an APC, stabbing its tires until it goes boom.

Well a .50 can take out the tires on a truck if you shoot them (or is it when it takes X amount of damage?)

Well I've seen the insurgent cars get their tires messed up after a hit so it should be possible.

A) Its been said damage happens on local servers only, for some reason or another it does't work on line
B)How unfair would it be that a vehicle the size of an LAV25 is stopped because some bloke decided to go spec op and stab a tire?

no point imo, since you can just mine the enemy vehicle, or blow it up

IRL it surely isn't that hard to get a couple of new tires, not counting the spares.

Well It takes 10 seconds to stab a tire 4-6 times so it is kinda the same as letting a dude sneak up on you with C4 without the deadly affects. But I will make a local sever and try it there

Im pretty sure that this is not even possible because of engine limits.

lets not forget the suggestion was only for light vehichles

for that matter APCs these days have their tires custom built withsome a metal lining or something....not sure where i read that from but i remember it very clearly that it said metal tire or lining.

I'm pretty sure that modern APCs have run-flat tires with solid rubber cores designed to support the vehicle even in case of tire puncture, allowing it to drive away for repairs under its own power. I've even read claims that tires are less prone to mobility kills: breaking one track link means the vehicle can't move, but puncturing one tire means that the vehicle can still continue on the remaining wheels and the rubber core.

From a DoD release on the Stryker:
Eight wheels are easier to maintain in the field than tracks, Engelbrecht said, adding that the Stryker sports "run-flat" tires.

Hard-rubber inner tires allow Stryker drivers to get blowouts "and still move this thing," Gemmell said.

Military trucks have "armored" tires. You can't just stab them.

On a similar subject, if you puncture a jet's tire it will kill you. It will explode like a bomb and kill you. There is a reason why they put them in metal cages when they work on them.

I'll give you a 20 if you can find another engine that is smooth running and allows numerous people in various roles to play... that isn't ArMA, although when I've played that it wasn't exactly what I'd call smooth.

It's buggy sometimes, but it does a good job considering, plus you gotta take into account it's becoming a pretty old engine, it's doing a good job considering what PRs thrown at it.

I remember changing many a tire on a humvee and it having a hard plastic insert inside to allow them to run on flat tires. It doesnt run well mind you and I wouldn't be offroading in them, but it will move.
