M249 deployed from prone to standing...

Post by RCMoonPie »

Im not sure whether its a bug,or if it is deliberate for some strange reason, or what....

But....

While using the M249 in the deplolyed mode I went prone.
I sighted in the weapon(RMB)....fired my suppression...then stood to run to cover....with the weapon sighted in.
Realising I couldnt run with the weapon sighted in....I toggled the RMB to drop the weapon and run.
Nothing.
Right clicked again....nothing.
It wasnt until I went prone again, and right clicked, that the weapon would drop to the unsighted position.

IMO....going from prone to standing should automaticly unsight the weapon anyway, but....

Either way it shouldnt be locked in until you go prone again.

Try it.
Get the automatic rifleman kit.
Deploy the weapon.
Go prone.
Sight the weapon.
Stand.
Unsight the weapon.
It will stay sighted until you prone again.

Not a fix, but if this happens just switch to undeployed mode and it will drop the sight.

It was purposely left in I believe. I remember a thread discussing this but can't find it. Basically they want to make it harder to run around flopping to the ground every time you see a target, and then jumping up and running as soon as your taking fire. You can still do that, but it requires some button skill. Just get used to hitting the aim button when you stand up.

No, it is a bug afaik. Have seem the same problem in other mods too, and they were unable to fix it iirc. (FH2's anti tank weapons for example)

Okay....but why not....
IRL.....would I not be able to stand and run just because I have the bipod deployed?
On the same coin.....it is also fixed so the weapon cant be fired with the bipod deployed while standing or squatting.
As if the weapon "knows" my firing position and remains on safe?
