Pilots/Gunner/Copilot

Post by mp5punk »

I think that when you are in any attack or transport helicopter or plane that you should be able to see your characters legs or body, instead of just looking at the floor board and dashboard.

Also i think that when you want to get into a certain chopper like cobra for example that your character opens up the side window and it should show them getting strapped in and stuff. Would be cool.

The PR team should make an ejection sequence for the planes as sometimes if you jump out at the wrong time it can hurt you so you should be able to eject instead of jumping out.

That's it sorry if any one this has already been posted if it has please lock this thread, thanks.

There is a limit to the amount of moving parts you can have on a helicopter or any other vehicle. They have enough problems trying to do swing wing jets and I wouldn't imagine a helicopter having an open canopy being any better.

As far as seeing your own body goes that's just how the game decided to do it. Very few games will make everything entirely in third person then put the camera on the person's face for the first-person view (it makes certain things a pain to deal with so they cheat and remove your body to avoid those issues). The only way they could get around that is to make your body geometry part of the helicopter. The problem with that is if they ever changed soldier models or skins they'd have to edit the helicopter too. It's not worth it.

Not to mention, mount/dismount animations are hardcodedly impossible.

I think that they are working on the entrance/exit points for jets so you dont get hurt when bailing out, but dont take my word for it.

I dunno, Talon's feet keep kicking me in the head on our Apache runs :P So you can't see your feet, but can see your partners. I like the animation idea, but it seems the dev's are always fixing something. (good thing) I'm sure this would be a good thing to work on in down time, if it is possible.

The first person player models have no legs etc, they only have hands and a bit of arms, this means its not possible to do this unless we remodel all the player models, and then we would also have the problem of what to do with these new legs etc once your walking about on foot.

But i would say the physics seems believable (much more than BF2's) except for the rate of climb which seems way out in alot of cases. The other thing youve got to remember when flying in BF2 and its mods is that effectively your head is clamped to the helicopter as if in a vice so you see every little adjustment in movement it makes, unlike IRL.

Cue the false hope:

No, itll probably never be ingame because its fundamentally flawed, but we can dream.

;) so, no.
