[SMACKNUKE] Pilot licenses

Post by TF6049 »

I know I know...many have suggested this before...but it just simply needs to go in. Make some sort of training course for vehicles so that those who just want to fly because "it's fun" and not because they think that they are a competent pilot and end up crashing (those who do a good job, not talking about you) can do so on training servers, but not on a real one. I have seen too many idiots tip the cobra on Muttrah, go into a hot zone I nor anyone else didn't ask them to, or those who simply just take my words aside and end up failing with me on board.

As a double edged sword, some of my best pilots have never flown before, but they follow instructions (the logic that "this guy has some experience and I don't so I better listen) that I give them. I also tell my pilot "go to this alt, do this and this and this, etc..." and always drop people in non-hot zones when possible. Lastly, I always ask for pilots who are qualified, not just pilots. But all this doesn't seem to do enough when people don't want to follow your directions...

I do agree some sort of qualification stuff needs to go in. Maybe add in awards like in vanilla. You know the airborne ribbon, the parachute for certain amount of time. Do that for training servers, you fly a certain amount of time (which would then lend itself to saying you have some idea of what you're doing) and thats all I can think of
maybe put in some weird message that only people who have done the award can know? And make it illegal on the forums to discuss that

I was doing LB transport on Muttrah hardly crashed. I returned to the carrier and i see some guy get into the cobra guess what happens! he jumps in and he decides to increase the throttle all the way before it could warm up it falls onto its side and BOOM there goes the cobra...

Won't work. You have to consider some people will be qualified to fly but also cause grief on occasion.

That reminds me of Muttrah, I spawn in on carrier and its BOOOM ! in my face, I climb up the ladder and see 3 wrecked Helicopters one next to the other. I was in chat like, ZOMG why are there 3 wrecked choppers next to each other ?!?

Apparently somone took a chopper and tried to take off with no warm up time X 3.

Too bad I had to sacrifice the printscreen for somthing else.

As Solid says accidents happen, too many very immature players that jump to conclusions and then for some reasons start a "your mum" contest, very stupid...

I kind of agree but.

Where do people learn combat flying?

I have had a round on muttrah, 20 kills in huey, get in cobra on spawn, die instantly by AA, get back in huey, 30 more kills until disconnect. Or get in huey, 5 kills, die in under 5 mins, get in cobra, alive rest of the round.
Ramiel, get blackhawk, hit a pole on landing, get littlebird, never die again...
Its just too random to say who is qualified or not.

Also there is the problem of "hey he just took off and crashed into the mountain", however what they don´t know is the once a round lagspike just came in full force.

I dont think you can do it. The game engine doesn't allow it I think.

Ye agree, its just too random to implement something like this, if it was possible

Last time I joined one I was getting <20 FPS with 40 people in it. With less it can be fun though. :)

Like they said, too random to tell. I have these random security check which make games lag like heck, and I crash. Every time. Otherwise I'm a good pilot.

Last time i flew a transport LB with full choppa I faced 1 apc and 2 vodnics right next to each other nowhere near a flag, they just happened to be next to the dropoff spot (they dropped us allright) and then the SL who i was trasferring start to jabber about "never fly again"...
Can get to your nerves quite fast.
Maybe i should put a clan tag just to give people some false respect as it seems to work.

And i would say i know my shdit.

thing that bugs me most is when people in a squad clearly labelled INF just suddenly turn into opportunists and go and take a vehicle , die 5 mins later then carry on as before.. then someone who has been waiting for it is just left standing....wtf?
