It will protect against one round, maybe two if your lucky. And additional shrapnel from various munitions. I know a guy who tested this out with a large caliber pistol, point blank (and he was wearing the vest and plate when he shot at it). It works.

Assault rifle rounds these days are alot different from the larger rifled rounds of the WW2 era. In WW2 they of course didn't have bullet proof vests and a .30-06 would really ruin your day.

I am trusting my fellow officers of the Swedish Army, our body armour's were designated for taking grenade **** flying towards us, not bullets at all.

And even if you actually wear cheramic plates, which is something different from the standard body armour and a lot heavier, you will probably get shocked and fall to the ground when hit.

Forget this one shot ****. What needs to be added is some kind of effect when you get hit, like screen going black for a split second and your aim/view being shifted, randomly to another direction in reaction to the round hitting you.

This shoot each other until someone goes down is ****. Scoring the first hit should be rewarded by the target being stunned like mentioned above and force them to take cover or eat some follow up shots.

That would be badass.

and schiller man, sorry but the swedish army sucks if they're not going to provide protection from at least ONE round. No plates for you guys? It doesn't make THAT much of a difference man. I'd rather have the plates and worry about the weight than to not, and get shot in the chest.

Sapi plates average from 6-8 lbs, it's not THAT much more.

I agree with Deuce6 if i had a choice between being shot and wearing 6-8lbs more weight in plates. Thats a hard choice.

I think it's only downloadable at steam at the moment (Red Orchestra Ostfront 41-45). But I had read somewhere that it will be released on a disc in the future.

oooo like the price...
WOW! this looks like all I'v ever wanted from a WWII game... How does it play, is it just a TDM or is it a Conquest style game? Does it require a beefy machine?

RO is ok. Its not as fun as you think it would be. I got it when they released it on steam and I played it for a couple days and havent played it since.

I think it really depends. RO plays out like OFP or AA style of gameplay. At least thats what I've been told. Very slow, not for everyone really. The engine it plays on is a tad bit old (plays on UT2004's engine). Alot of CoD plays would say that it sucks, however alot of OFP players might say otherwise. Read some reviews if your looking for how it plays out. Personally this game RO, Empire at War and F.E.A.R are the only games currently realesed I want to get my hands on.

I gotta make this clear. There are two types of protection.

1. Standard body armour with protection against grenades
2. Standard body armour with cheramic plates to protect from some bullets depending on circumstances.

The 2 type may be used when on guard or similar, but the 1 type is used most frequently since not many soldiers can take the pain of wearing those plates all the time.

The 1 type doesn't take a bullet, the 2 type may take a bullet.
