Hmmm the tall grass looks a bit odd as mentioned before. I think because its a low grass that is set to be really tall... any chance you could fiddle with some other types of grass and maybe find one that gives you the height you want but doesnt look so "stretched"?

I mean, it might just be the image is lower quality or something but yeah, looks a bit too stretched. Even more so with the fact that you see the edge's low detail really clearly[where the grass ends and the invisible portion is]

How much transportation will be between island to island?
How far are the islands really apart?
Basically, how easy will it be to get from island to island?

If not easily, then that starts a problem of long swims if your boat gets beached or destroyed...

If your any good you wouldn't beach ya boat and either hide it or have someone take it off shore again so it doesn't get blown up..

in order to avoid the blurry grass do this :
First go to bf2 graphics options and turn of anti alias, shut down game.

Go to my documents/battlefield 2/cache delete all files there
Go to my documents/battlefield 2/mods open each mod directory and delete all cache files

Go back into game and start a map just to recache everything, shut down.

Go back into game and enable anti alias, shut down.

Load game again and everything should work with anti alias on.

In worst case only option is to turn anti alias off altoghter.

A. The Islands will have shallow water Inbetween each island so you can walk from A. To B.
What happens when you spawn on a rally without a boat?
-Again.. the Islands will all have shallow water from one to the other.

What happens when a noob beaches it or steals it?

-There will be an abundance of boats.. and i'm considering making it so when the Australians Capture a flag. 5 minutes later boats spawn there regularly, simulating the re-enforcements moving in.

This looks fantastic. The tall grass makes me think of The Thin Red Line. Some truly gorgeous and crazy scenes in that and I'm sure I'd have a moment or two where I'd be thinking of that in game.

Boat oriented maps need to be made more often. Always with the Helos.

looking pretty good so far, your beaches are a little too white thou.

Also what you want to do is make really shallow water areas around the island like wake has, will look much nicer and more natural :)

also your using a load of statis you should not, check this topic:

Thank you for your Feedback rhino!

I'm in the process of "getting-rid" of all those statics you have spoken of, When i placed them i was un-aware of that - but its all good.

I have also Done what you've said with the shallow areas around the islands, they all have shallow areas around them.

One of the issues i'm having trouble with is when i fly in a chopper over the water. . the terrain " bleeds" through the water...It has a very nasty effect - do you know how to stop this from happening?

Just one final Question, When Crossing the Water from one island to another. . there is NO COVER what so ever - should i leave it this way to encourage the usage of boats and/or air assets or should i really look to add some sort of cover ?

you can do this quite effectively just by having shallow water.

Also ye, no cover is good between islands, you shouldn't encourage players to wade from island to island, nor really swimming thou players will swim but when they are swimming they wont be able to use any weapons and will be very slow etc so will be at a huge disadvantage which should put them off enough, providing the distance between each island is big enough ;)

some of the small islands you might just want to allow players to wade or swim a little to them :)

Also you will get that shallow effect above AND get rid of your bleeding water etc once you run lightmaps on your terrain (since the water also uses terrain LMs) and providing the lightmaps are at least medium, may need to be final to get the full result it should look good.

Oh!! Thanks for the quick reply - and for the referance pictures.

So by shallow water would you suggest the players being able to walk from island to island (so if they spawn on and island with a rally point and they have no boat they aren't completely lost)

Or should i make them have to wade from island to island (or prehaps a mixture?)

Just looking at those referance pictures though... how would i simulate those kind of " rings" around each island or should i leave that out ?
