And for the love of God don't use the Military Channel as a reliable source.
When you enter a room full of armed men, shoot the first person who makes a move, hostile or otherwise.
He has started to think and is therefore dangerous.

Re: body armor?
Body armor in game is reflected by reduced bullet damage, problem is that the guns in game are designed to punch through body armor. Also keep in mind in the real world, the US Army isn't fighting a fictional conventional unified Middle Eastern military or China with modern weapons. BTW, if you're going to use TV as a source, make sure to mention what show and what episode.

Re: body armor?
use bf2s bad hit reg as this.
some people have survived direct hits to chest (video on youtube of medic sniped) but alot of been shot in chest and died. it depends on so many variables that saying they take no damage is stupid, also after first shot the vest plate will probably not be able to take a second , if they are lucky enough to have survived the first.

if a player is dead, you may see "through" him. the bodies dissapear.

Re: body armor?
The body armour ingame reduces the damage of bullets, as said already. The 5.56 and 7.62 ammo (and that chinese stuff) are supposed to be used against body armour however and will kill at the second or third hit. However, the vests can take quite a few pistol and SMG rounds, as they can in real life.

Reduce effective damage of pistols to headshots only against conventional armies?

Re: body armor?
Even when wearing body armor internal bleeding and broken bones can occur from the force of the impact of the bullet. You still can bleed out even if a bullet doesn't penitrate the body armor.

Re: body armor?
Like others have said thats not exactly how body armor work, in fact one British RMC show I was watching the instructors commented that body armor was more about keeping the internal organs together inside.....ewwwbigpimp83 wrote:take no damage when hit in the chest area.

Re: body armor?
^that would be a bonus, but doesnt' body armour work well until the ceramic plate is hit once, the shattering effect removes its penetrative protection?

Re: body armor?
On standard armour, I suppose it would dramatically reduce the effectiveness, but if you've seen that stuff called 'dragon skin', there are loads of ceramic plates, if one got hit, only that small area would be affected, I presume.

Re: body armor?
well yeah, but dragonskin is banned by the US military for use in service right? I don't know of other body armours being used in the field apart from the big ceramic plate kind edit, Interceptor body armour kind

Re: body armor?
they do take damage, depends on the bullet and level protection of armor. Getting shot with vest on WILL knock him down to the ground but they're designed to keep it from penetrating through the vital organs.
and yes dragonskin is banned by most (if not all) branches in US

Why is it banned? If it's so good, why isn't everyone using it.Dr2B Rudd wrote:well yeah, but dragonskin is banned by the US military for use in service right? I don't know of other body armours being used in the field apart from the big ceramic plate kind

Re: body armor?
I guess there's a downside, as usual. Prolly not as effective as its supposed to be. Maybe it has some huge weak spot. Maybe the punch is so heavy that the bullet doesnt even need to penetrate anymore.

They claimed there was a big flaw with the dragon skin armor during the endurance testing. Yet a few SF detachments fielded the vest's for a bit, same thing with the H&K 416 I was really hoping we got that.

This might be the dumbest suggestion I've ever heard on this forum.
I seriously can't believe how this is being discussed in a serious manner.
Has anyone thought of how stupid the game would be if body shots all of a sudden we worthless against the conventionals?
There's enough challenges put in front of us just to hit our target, now we should only go for head and extremity shots? Insurgency would be twice as broken as it is already...
WOW....
