Re: [Proposal] The Army of the Democratic Republic of Congo Faction
Replaced the M2 with the NSVT on account of the floating ammo box. The NSVT is also operated by the DRC; it is a 1960's evolution of the DShKM and is used all over the world. I realized the the player's hands weren't set up correctly. I configured the IK, but the soldier is rotating around the mount much faster than the MG. Interesting results:

How do I slow him down?
EDIT - Figured it out. The seat parent has to be the PCO, not the weapon. i.e.

I watched the first five minutes before I fell asleep last night at 2am
Well everybody, here's the new design plan.
National Congress for People's Defense
Everything in green is done. Red means I haven't been in contact with the various teams/individuals yet or the source of the item is still To Be Determined. To anybody who is interested, we can use all the help we can get!

Re: [Proposal] The Army of the Democratic Republic of Congo Faction
I like the new design plan, although I miss the old "guerilla" kit with his claymores. Anyways, am a grat fan of the variable equipment they use. The Uzi and RPD will be interesting. And a scoped FAL is a good choice for marksman.
Although I would skip the sniper kit completely and give them 5 or more marksmen (other conventional armies in-game have 3 marksmen per team, right?) instead, as a way to balance their lack of scopes.
Would really love to help as this is the most promising and interesting current PR-project right now. But I have no experince of these things at all so I'm not sure if I will be that much more than a burden.
Just promise me you won't let this project fall asleep once more! Africa deserves some attention.

Re: [Proposal] The Army of the Democratic Republic of Congo Faction
The Guerilla has become a Sapper, and the MON-50 that he carries is essentially a Russian claymore. Who knows, we may end up actually using the claymore as nobody seems to be able to get a hold of the guy who made the MON-50 for the Russian Forces mod. USI also has one, so that may be a possibility too. I think I want to make the Sapper kit requestable so as to limit the amount of anti-personnel mines that are out there. The reason claymores were removed in the first place is because they were frikkin' everywhere. Also, if and when they do show up in game they will be remote det only, like IEDs.
As far as the snipers and the AT and all that stuff we'll see what happens after I talk a bit more to the DEVs about where this faction fits into the grand scheme of things. One thing I want to do is keep this as accurate as is feasible. Information is tough to come by, but I've done a lot of research over the past few weeks and I think the design plan does a fair job representing the equipment floating around the DRC today. What I need now is for people to start volunteering for the big stuff:
Maps: These are probably the most important and also most difficult and time-consuming projects. High resolution aerial imagery of most of the DRC is tough to come by, but I'd really like to have at least one or two real-world maps. The eastern border/great lakes region of the DRC has some very cool topography and I'd like us to use it if at all possible.
Assets: The Uzi, the FN FAL, the AML-60/90 or EE-9, and the support truck all need to be modeled, skinned, coded, etc. Hopefully we can borrow a lot of the rest of the stuff from other BSS mods, which would keep the development time down a tiny bit. Again, I need to talk to the Jaymz and Co. about how this should all go down. We may be a bit short on DEV help until after 0.85 is released, but we can get started on a lot of things in the meantime.
So who wants to start claiming projects?

Re: [Proposal] The Army of the Democratic Republic of Congo Faction
The National Congress for People's Defense is a militant group operating along Congo's eastern border. Basically, a good sized chunk of the Congolese army defected and there is now a civil war going on with the CNDP (rebels) battling against UN peacekeepers and what is left of the Congolese army. Reports from the area say that the CNDP is more structured and disciplined than the actual Congolese army. I thought this made it a good choice for our faction.DeltaFart wrote:im lost waht is this congress thing?
Here's the CNDP's actual website: ..::CNDP::...
Edit - You'll notice I've got you on the design plan Delta...

Looks really interesting!
Forgive me for not reading through previous pages, but will they also be fighting forces other than UN?

Re: [Proposal] The Army of the Democratic Republic of Congo Faction
I get it. Still; anti-personnel mines like the M16 mine and the Valmara models (none of them claymores but bounding mines) is a very profilic weapon of the civil wars in Africa - claiming lives long after the wars have ended. Dense jungles triggered with anti-personnel mines and other booby traps would make interesting maps.A_Grounded_Pilot wrote:Also, if and when they do show up in game they will be remote det only, like IEDs.

Re: [Proposal] The Army of the Democratic Republic of Congo Faction
That's one thing that's not really determined yet. In reality, most of the UN forces there are Indian and Pakistani. Seems to me that the MEC are the closest thing we have to that, especially if they get UN skins sometime in the future. The EU is also involved, and it is not unreasonable that British troops would be there. However, I think we have to pick one or the other as opfor because of the team 1/team 2 issue with the BF2 engine. Am I correct?[R-DEV]Falkun wrote:Looks really interesting!

Yes he is. I wouldn't worry about getting the pic from him too much arjan. As long as you have a grasp on the area and model it with some accuracy then I'm satisfied, and I think the community will be as well. Thank you for your help!
Agreed. I'll be interested to see how the DEVs feel about this gameplay issue.STORM-Mama wrote:Still; anti-personnel mines like the M16 mine and the Valmara models (none of them claymores but bounding mines) is a very profilic weapon of the civil wars in Africa - claiming lives long after the wars have ended.
