I play with all settings on low or off, except 1024x768 and 100% view distance. The gameplay and loading used to be unbearable, but then I upgraded the RAM to 2gb (Vista uses up way too many resources). Still, it lags a bit thanks to the really bad integrated graphics.

I have the same system as you, but with a 3.2Ghz P4, and i can run @ 1280x1024 with Geom + Textures high, lighting and shadows off/low, and terrain and the rest on medium.

I've had an experiment around and I can just get that but a heli lands near me for insertion/extraction and I lag like hell.

I'm probs going to try and get a bit more out of it cause after looking at SS's on high settings I'm jealous as hell.

Everything is maxed out except for AA, but I'm having some serious performance problems with the game. In servers with a lot of people it'll eventually start to skip and freeze up for a few seconds at a time, coming unplayable. I'm not sure if it's the settings or just lag. I don't think it's the settings because I run every other game just fine.

Is that type of lag normal for this game?

I have a Q6600 and 8800 GTS both slightly OC

Its not normal, shouldn't be happening with your specs too. Update your video/sound drivers and make sure you have nothing running in the background that is not necessary (including anti virus and firewalls)

All settings maxed, resolution at 1024 x 768. 8x anti-aliasing. I have no lag on any map, except for the occasional 1-2 FPS slowdown on Ramiel. And I'm not sure if that was network lag or not.

Low at 1024*768. My notebook with windows vista 64 (2GB RAM, nVIDEA, Duo Core 2.4 GHz) gets only 4.8 at the Windows hardware ranking. I never tried a better configuration, though.
