Seems to me that the MEC are the closest thing we have to that, especially if they get UN skins sometime in the future. The EU is also involved, and it is not unreasonable that British troops would be there. However, I think we have to pick one or the other as opfor because of the team 1/team 2 issue with the BF2 engine. Am I correct?
Hm. Am I the only one growing tired of this old "westerners against asians/arabs/africans"-bullshit? Let the DRC fight against the MEC and PLA. One scenario could be that the DRC gets into a war against Sudan, caused by the tensions in the area around Darfur. Let's assume that Sudan is part of the MEC or have close relations with them. They ask for MEC support. To make things even worse for the Congolese they also call the Chinese (which is, IIRC, Sudans most important trade partner and also the country tha is arming the Sudanese army). China is also quite present in Africa (don't they have control of the oil in Angola or something like that?) so a conflict with a local army isn't very unlikely.

Yeah, again, PR doesn't do story lines. However, I think Congolese rebels vs. MEC or China would be a nice change of pace.

In my humble opinion, the idea was to not be rebels, but rather a weak conventional force. As I do like the new design, it doesn't really fit with what me and others thought it to be. If you think this is better, then go ahead :) , just mind my piece of advise. :D

Oh and what is this Top Secret I am working on :p ? I'll be back in a few months, so I'd be glad to help then :)

Hey Brum,

My intention is exactly that: a poorly-funded but highly-motivated conventional force with a mix of weaponry left over from decades of war and involvement from Europe and weapons sales with Russia and China. It just so happens that this conventional force is rebelling against their own government IRL. I guess 'rebel' isn't the right term. They are more conventional than their nation's own official military. I am going to keep this close to your original idea, as I think it is a good one.

I don't know what your super secret squirrel project is either... it was on the design plan so I left it with the hopes that you would unleash it upon us when the time was right ;)

Maybe first get the stuff done and then decide how to define their motivation?

They may have Chinese support, but I wonder if China will begin exporting the QBZ in the near future.

Agreed. I'm waiting for lots of PMs to be returned. Again, if anyone sees anything they want to do, let me know.

exec_4ever has been kind enough to donate his FN FAL model for the marksman rifle. It will need to be UV'd and skinned, and we're going to try to scrounge up an L2A2 scope to put on it.

This is his para FAL just to give you an idea of how good it looks:

EDIT - Brum, not sure if you're still around, but if you are, can you send me the BHP skin you had?

Quick UV I've done earlier

4shared.com - online file sharing and storage - download parafal.rar

If y'all are seriously considering using this UV, please note the finished products can ONLY be used for PR unless otherwise stated.

Hmm we had the discussions about the FAL already, and really their not really in use by any country, but since you're doing a militia, it's your call.

In the conflicts in the late 60's the FAL was hugely prevalent in the Congo, mainly of Belgian origin. Used by Belgian mercenaries and the standard rifle of the revolutionary movement. It seems likely that there are still a decent number of them kicking around in that area.

As far as I can tell, both Congoese armies use AK variants (maybe Chinese built?) as their main assault rifle (as well as other ex-Soviet hardware). Perhaps setting this faction in what was once a western-backed country would make things more interesting? It would certainly make the use of the FAL more realistic.

I'd love to see "the right arm of the free world" used somewhere (appropriately) in the game. The Nigerian army uses a Nigerian-built FN FAL, as well as an AK variant from what I gather. The pics I've found giving evidence for each are roughly equal in number, I also came across a few G3's and M16's though I wouldn't expect those to be used. It'd also give a chance for the FN MAG machine gun (L7A2 GPMG) to be used in the automatic rifleman role, which would be interesting.

There's also lots of oil in Nigeria (well compared to the rest of Africa barring maybe Angola) to fight over too, as well as a large percentage of muslims if you wanted to put a religious spin on things. Could be invaded from the Saharan north by the MEC or sea/air by western forces. Lots of possibilities there.
