Quad bikes
Hey guys,
ive been thinking about how people use quads ingame at the moment, there normally used to ferry one man sniper teams to a far corner of the map.
In modern times, strangely, lone snipers do not zoom around the battlefield at highspeeds on ATVs. They are used to carry loads for squads, such as ammo.
I think the best way to represent this was to have an ammo drop, with the sae characteristics as a jeeps. But you say how does this help, snipers would now have a source of ammo to supply them with bandages and ammo. Now comes my next suggestion, make the ATV travel at walking speed, but now people will say this is not realistic, well what about adding a sprint that lasts for maybe 200m and makes it travel at the speed it does now, allowing for getaways from hostile situations.
please consider this, because at the moment i see people wizzing all around the map on their 1337 ridez and it annoys me

Re: Quad bikes
^probably won't stop snipers from using them, only give them more of a reason! Though, I would like to see them used more like battlefield pack-mules, only needs to be implemented properly.

Re: Quad bikes
I saw it that the only way to stop them being 1337 rides was to decrease speed dramatically, but then people could say they had no way of avoiding danger that they couldn't shoot back at or hide from hence the speed boost, and it won't increase them using it more than now as at the moment the only people who use them are snipers on mestia (I think there still on it)
And now that they had a real role the regulars would speak out against it, now they are of no worth so theres no reason for them to
Plus dirtbikes are great now as an INS driveby attacer ride

Re: Quad bikes
What maps other then the "Desert Rats" map has quads on it ?
IRL sniper teams do use quads to move around the AO.
The Devs could either make them have 2 seats so a sniper and spotter could fit on one or put more of them on the map so the sniper team can have one each.

Try steering with an analog controller, steering wheel or joystick. I fly around with my steering wheel. It's just hard to steer on keyboard because of how sensitive the steering is.sakils2 wrote:OFFTOPIC. Wh does the dirtbike sucks so bad? I'm talking about handling.

Re: Quad bikes
is it me or does the quad bike insist on doing wheelies and goes round corners like its on ice.

Yeah, in Afghanistan they use them as very light carriers.CryOfTheWulfen wrote: They are used to carry loads for squads, such as ammo.

I always thought ATV weren't quite suitable for PR, since the mod depicts regular armed forces, not SOF operations.

Re: Quad bikes
but we have special ops and sniper kits, therefore they should still be there.
if they were to have ammo on em i would use it contiously to ferry ammo to the front lines or as a spec ops even when i needed more c4 for my ambushes on enemy vechicles.
perhaps 2 variants of the quad, one with ammo(visually notable as to avoid confusion) and a 2 seater for those sniper teams.

I think it's just a coding bug. Sort of like the old Merlin on Al Basrah, where if you have a high ping it's just impossible to drive.sakils2 wrote:OFFTOPIC. Wh does the dirtbike sucks so bad? I'm talking about handling.
I read somewhere on the Battlearena site, a post made by Chuc, that in the .85 the dirtbikes should be a lot better to drive and you can do wheelies and lean around the corners.
