why do supply trucks take hits better??

Post by Conman51 »

it seems wrong to me taht if u hit a supply truck w/ light AT it survives better than a humvee or vodnick...shouldnt it be teh opposite?/

Yes, it would be the opposite. The vodnik is more heavily armored than the HMMWV as well if I recall correctly.

And even worse, both HMMWVs and supply trucks withstand direct tank hits, both SABOT and HEAT.

Yeah, I've seen that happen. Sometimes they start burn and explode a couple of seconds later, but they should just blast into pieces instantly.

What happens is, if you hit a person directly with a tank round or whatever, it will kill him, but not harm the vehicle at all. I've seen it happen a few times, and it is funny :D

Haha, i remember playing kashan desert and my squad was in a Humvee at south village and a tank shot a sabot round directly in our Humvee and it didn't hurt it at all. It was pretty funny to us, and we stopped our Humvee to inspect the damage and it wasn't even smoking. Then the tank started spraying coaxial at us and our Humvee, then shot a 2nd round right in the Humvee and it just started smoking lightly. We started to throw smoke and then we drove the Humvee away then a 3RD SABOT round right into our windshield and it made the Humvee go to half health and we ran away then repaired the Humvee and came back. Thinking we were invincible and got a Hat kit of the firebase we tried to engage that tank which was still sitting there. We shot off a hat then it missed the tank shot another round at us in the Humvee and ..... we still survived and we just ran away. Humvee can withstand 4 direct AP rounds from a tank and I'm pretty sure they were AP cause if they were heat we would have all died in the Humvee.

And on a side note, does anyone notice how a scimitar can withstand 3 AP tank rounds to the front and 2 AP tank rounds to the back? Is that normal?

It must be a bug with the armor or projectile materials used by the tank shell or the target vehicle.

As for the Scimitar, the DEVs probably didn't expect them to be placed on maps with enemy tanks; perhaps the durability against tank rounds just wasn't tested.

I had light AT on Muttrah as MEC, and I was in the street, when a HUMMWV rocketed towards me trying to run me over. I hit it directly on in the front. The driver didn't even die, and the HUMMWV proceeded to run me over. something's wrong here...

LAT on vehicles like that should be one hit..

Hmm, odd i've always found that scimitars have stronger armor than real tanks! Maybe it's a bug? And hx.bjoffe im talking about tanks vs scimitars not against light at or what not.

Unless you are talking about tanks, i dont remember if fools road has tanks or not. If i'm wrong sorry :P

It does, but Ive personally never seen Scimis stand up to more than 1 or 2 hits from the militia tanks. If you can get a video or something, that would be great.

i think we are getting a little off topic here with the scimitar talk, but anyway ive shot commander trucks with 2-3 sabots many times, direct hits, and they kept rollin. something is really screwy with the armor values on those things. they should be extremely weak, even small arms fire should be a major threat to those things.

I've taken out Comm trucks with one hit of LAT before. Mostly from directly in front as they try to run me down!

Light vehicles can survive sabot rounds well because said rounds do not explode, they merely penetrate the vehicle, doing far less damage than an explosive round would. It is not insane for a humvee to survive three sabot rounds.

the metal penetrators are incredibly hot thought and do cause alot of damage inside light vehicles. saw it on discovery channel (the source of all wisdom)

I've seen a HMMWV get hit by a HAT and it burned instead of exploded instantly. Same goes for some vehicles hit by the TOW. I hit a tank with a TOW once and it just drove away ... smoking though. Of course I followed up with another shot and finished it off. Kind of paid off too since there were two engineers working on it. Yay for more kills!
