A decline of the British Faction?

It strikes me that with so many maps being released for the US, and indeed Basrah itself being changed to Americans, the Brits are getting a raw deal. Even on this build I almost never get to play a map with Brits on it, they seem to be assigned to maps which are never in the rotations, Quin Ling being a good example of this.

I looked for new maps containing Brits that are to be released in .85 and I found very few, in fact I'm not sure I found any. With such an immense amount of work going into a faction it would be nice to actually use them for once.

Everyone wants US vs Insurgent maps, China is also rarely seen, and I think the map rotation is being bogged down by too many guys with Black Hawk Down style dreams. It is never good to sacrifice variety for appeal to a mass audience, and it hasn't been the tactic of PR Devs in the past.

So what do you guys think? Is this a serious problem or isn't it? Or are the British faction just not fun to play?

by Basrah being changed to Americans you mean the BattleArean's "Al Basrah v2" custom map I take it? As we do not plan on changing Basrah back to the US for PR officially ever...

No, there are not any new Brit maps in v0.85, in fact there is going to be fewer, but in v0.9 etc we do plan on getting a bunch of new brit maps in.

We are never going to ditch the British faction in any kinda way, but we can not force servers to run or players to play British maps.

If any one here thinks there is a lack of British maps, my advice is to make new British maps for PR as we have a limited amount of active mappers on the team and only one mapper can realistically work on one project at one time.

currently the brits have 8 maps of 20 (if i counted right).

and its looking like we gunna get 2 US maps that we know of in next release and hopefully sangin which IMO will be best map in PR. so maybe the US have few more maps but not that much.

Now the maps that are being made are for the US Army Facton. The British are a huge part of Project Reality and its not going anywhere, trust me. And Rhino, with Ranky in Royal Marines your going to finish the map right.....

Sangin will be British right? Because if I am not mistaken it is in Helmand.

lol, ranky would hate you if he saw that. Duckhunt is in the Royal Marines, Ranky made Bi Ming and finished off Op Barra with me (which duckhunt started).

and ye, Sangin is 4km^2, Qinling and Kashan size.

Lol. The only maps I can think of with a "Black Hawk Down" feel are Ramiel and Basrah. And basrah has the brits

And Ramiel has every reason to be like it because thats what it was based on

Agree with Rhino, we could use more mappers Every mapper has a faction they like working for, or a location they enjoy mapping, etc. Not to mention, the mappers generally also work on maps for new factions. The US Army was new in .8 so it got alot of maps brought over/made for it. Itll most likely be similar for any new faction Brits had the same thing heheh.

But as far as the map rotation seeming bogged down with BHD style dreams... thats not really up to us, there are plenty of other great/better maps out there, we cant tell the servers what to run

I like Brits for their full auto rifles. That and Fool's Road is the best forest combat ever.

Brits are being neglected these days, almost as if they're not the only faction in PR.

I can't wait for the ultimate release of the Canucks and hopefully the explosions of Kandahar maps. Just hope Canadians get some non insurgency maps too.

But til then Brits are my love in PR. Especially that pretty officer beret. I'm waiting with baited breath for Sangin.

Trust me as a British Soldier myself, The British Faction will not be hard done by in any way, they have some great Maps, and a a good variety of them too, with more to follow in due course



They have had the best deal for the last 2 releases now, and if you look at the quality of their Assets, probably the most comprehensive and best quality equipment, and its just time to bring the rest up to speed with the British ...... I enjoyed saying that ....lol.
