Future HAT weapons?

Post by moj »

Are there any plans to issue the MEC with the RPG-29 to replace the ERYX, once it is finished for the Russian faction? I think it'd make sense, since the ERYX will be used by Canada, Norway and France anyway and the MEC already use the RPG-26 and a load of other Russian equipment. I know the French faction don't have a forum, but they're well on their way from what I understand.

Also, it would be nice to see the PLA use the PF-98 instead of the ERYX. This way the Canadians, Norwegians and French will be free to fight against the NEC and PLA, without both teams fielding the same HAT weapon.

Finally, while no the subject of anti-tank, it would be cool to see the Chinese ZBD-97 IFV in the game. It compares to the BMP-3 and the M-2 Bradley, with it's ability to fire heavy anti-tank missiles.

With regards to MEC
'[R-DEV wrote:Eddie Baker']the Eryx is in use by an as yet undisclosed member of the Gulf Cooperation Council, which includes states that would be in a notional MEC. It isn't that much of a stretch, considering that the French sell ATGMs all over the world. :)

With regards to PLA

New H-AT weapon is planned for the PLA.

So Saudi Arabia, Oman, UAE or one of those irrelevant tiny countries next to them :D

Syria on the other hand uses the RPG-29, but if an MEC country use the ERYX now, I guess they could always start building it themselves eventually (after rev erse-engineering), during a war against westerners.

Thanks for the info, Jaymz. Looking forward to seeing what's in store for the PLA.

"KITS: Added pxx8 to PLA anti-tank"

From the decrypted 0.851 changelog. Hopefully means that we'll se the PF98 pretty soon.

Bear in mind that those things aren't guided, but just big computer-aided bazookas.

If the Insurgents can kill a tank with a flaming glass bottle, the Chinese can certainly kill one with a computer-aided bazooka.

I think people think that Molotovs killing tanks is some kind of feature in PR or something...

It's not a feature, but it's there.

Anyway, is this computer-aided bazooka somehow inferior in stopping power, or just guidance?

How are you planning on balancing things out if the PF98 and RPG29 gets into the game? More ammo, more damage?

I prefer realism to contrived 'balance' bonuses, personally. The PF98 is what it is, and that should be reflected in PR.

maybe giving more HAT kits to those factions ? think about the cost of a sraw/eryx and how much cheaper a rpg29 or pf98 is .

He also said that the ERYX will be replaced as the HAT of the PLA. My guess was that the replacement will be the PF98 as it is both the most realistic choice and something called a "pxx8" is mentioned in the changelog.

And if the Ruskies gets it into PR they will be using the RPG-29 as HAT, right?
