I saw LCACs suggested but not the more traditional kind of landing craft.

I believe they are called landing craft-tanks or landing craft-utilities and they are just like the landing craft that were used in world war 2 except alot bigger to accomadate vehicles and large amounts of infantry. The US marines use them and so do the british. This is an example:

If we had one of these in game this is how i think it could simulate dropping off vehicles on a beach within the limitations of the bf2 engine.
1: the landing craft is modelled with for example, a hummer as a static inside the craft. this static would actually be the landing crafts "ammo" except that instead of being like a missile or bomb, it would be a hummer static.
2:when the landing craft hits the beach, the drive would "fire" off the ammo, which would make the hummer disappear. then at the same time a real hummer would appear on the beach in front of the craft similar to how vehicles appear from firebases.

so it wouldnt look pretty or seamless like this:

but it would probably be the only way it could be done with the bf2 engine.

OR
we could just use the landing craft for landing infantry, as the previous suggestion still may not be possible for some reason

maybe even make the craft a spawn point? it would be limited to only travelling in water so i dont think it could be abused too much and would help simulate the fact that these ships can carry way more than 8 people

I didn't know they still had those. Reminds of me of Omaha in BF1942.

I like the idea. If it's actually do-able with Humvees, like you suggest, it could even be done with the Abrams and the LCAC. This makes me wonder if it hasn't already been suggested, though I'm hoping somehow it hasn't.

I like this idea, it would add some new and *realistic* game play to the marine maps. I think the suggested vehicle idea is the way to go.

yep, and they usually store these landing craft in the hangars of marine amphibious ships, witch would work great because we already got those.

the hard part of course, is to find someone to model it. im having such a hard time learning 3d modelling :[

I'm going to try and get my brother to do some modeling for PR. He has learned so much about it and he is a contributor to a couple other mods out there.

I bet he'd like a challenge. Gonna see if I can get him to do a CH-146 for the CF mod first. :D

yes we are well aware there are such things as landing crafts and if your lucky you may see them at some point in PR :p

real 100% you can see the marines on egipt in one of ur photos... 'Bright star' exercices on september of 2004.... i was there. PR need Landing crafts.

Resuggestion.

Hard Coded. Well, for landing viechles, anyway.

itsnot possible to have vehicles sit on other vehicles like a tank sitting on a landing craft since they just bug to sh*t, but its is possible to have a landing craft :p

I know, thats what I meant. -_- It is hard Coded to land viechles, that is to say to deliver viechles to land with landing craft.
The key to modernising any weapon is covering them in glue and tossing them in a barrel of M1913 rails until they look "Modern" enough.
