I was playing fools road on PRSP today and i came across a milita squad that was probably at the very outter edge of my view distance. they basically just looked like black dots, they were that far away. but how did i know they werent teammates? i checked the mini map for teammate locations. after checking the map and seeing no teammates in the area, i proceeded to mow down the enemy squad with the m2 on my landrover. but this made me wonder,
What if the map didnt show the locations of any friendlys? what would that do to gameplay? would it result in more careful identification of a targets before pulling the trigger, more close up gunfights, perhaps give more added value to marksmen/snipers with their better optics, or just result in more tks? i think its more reaslistic to not have friendly locations on the map, but also perhaps its a way to simulate gps positions?

Re: Question about maps
It shouldn't show the positions of allies. It would be Chaos... Sweet, sweet, realistic chaos.

Re: Question about maps
resuggestion and not a good idea, as IRL radio coms are not with just between 6 people where one can talk to the commander

Yes I think we have to assume some features which aren't literally identical to real life are sometimes a conceit to offer a similar to effect to what you would have in reality but within the limitations of the game design.

Re: Question about maps
I think its a great idea and Ive suggested it before as a reason to make the commander relevant again. It would also lead to alot more communication. Maybe if it wasnt just limited to the commander, it could just be limited to SL's or maybe if you could only see other SL's this would encourage squads to stick together.
It would also be realistic, as in RL the average soldier doesnt know the position of friendlies unless his commanding officers pass on the info.
