Just like WW2 was about more than Normandie and f'ing D-Day, WW1 was about more than the trench warfare on the Western Front. Just like in the later war it is the Eastern front that is the interesting part - trenches were never really dug and the front was constantly shifting.Oldirti wrote:Battle Field WWI

This is will be a rubbish patch, and will be worthless downloading, unless they increase the player size.

BF is nothing without the mods. Yeah, people still play vanilla but I don't see how. I just see BF as an engine for mods to go from. BF1942 wasn't good until Forgotten Hope. Basically, it doesn't matter what setting the next BF takes place in because it will suck anyways, as long as it's a better engine the mods will be better.

So what are they on about the player limit and the system specs. Maybe a slight increase there?

In the context of the article it sounds like theyre just talking about future games, and use bf2s [HUGE] player size[from years ago] as an example of them pushing the envelope.cyberzomby wrote:So what are they on about the player limit and the system specs. Maybe a slight increase there?
Meaning, no. 99.999% sure it wont increase for bf2 but their games will continue to "be absolutely amazing and not made of fail and they will push the envelope and add new things but not do them for older games via patches"
OOOWWWWWWW. My brain!!! I hope to god that was a sly tongue in cheek remark because JESUS, if an interviewer is inquiring about a MUCH NEEDED patch and is wooed with ANIMATED FISH IN A F****** BOX, then I have lost all faith in gamers. :\One interesting new feature is some boxes have fish inside, so when they explode, fish fly out and move around on the ground. Just when we thought Battlefield 2 couldn’t get any better, now we have moving fish in a box...
The map is designed to be intense but still huge, much like Karkand but in a Chinese setting.

Reminds me of that CP Abadan map that used to be in PR, except with Chinese
Actually it looks like Amsterdam with all the canals.
And there's also a 2142 version lolz.

They spent years coming up with that? What are those DICE developers getting paid for?

Re: BF2 1.5 Patch due out early 2009
No one is paying them for this patch, its a bug fix mostly and this is just some small bonus map probably equalavent to our old street map
Apart from crashes and hacks, my main hope would be for widescreen and proper free lock support

There IS working widescreen support in-game.
That map looks..ROFL :--DDD I've always hated vBF2 maps (except Road to Jalalabad, which would be good PR map if it was bigger) and this map definitely hated one too.
I hope they fix ALL remaining BF2 bugs. More players would be awesome, but I don't think DICE is going to feed the fragfest anymore. DEVs must modify the engine themselves, if they want more players to PR games..I don't know.

I get redirected HERE, scroll down and you can see Rhino taking the piss out of the map
.
I still feel that unless they add more support for modders/bump it up to 2142 standards (weapon sway etc) then I'm not interested.

Re: BF2 1.5 Patch due out early 2009
Im not paying for a patch and its been coming upto 4 years since i bought bf2 second hand and I dont really play on ranked servers, its fairly unpaid for at least by me
I guess we should thank all those bunnyhopping stats boys for this one then
Jalalabad is my favourite map, its also the only 64 player map in bf2 that can run without lag on a 512meg system. I know because thats also why its my most played as I had a 8500se for a long time, etc
Was fairly gutted when I realised I could have been playing pr on it

if they make it vastly more moddable PR is gonna be ****in sweet. to my knowledge the limited moddability of BF2 is the biggest problem for PR.

Re: BF2 1.5 Patch due out early 2009
This map, however, appears to be worse than any other made for BF2 since release. It has more unnecessary chokepoints, wasted space, and claustrophobic flag placement than any other map.RedAlertSF wrote:There IS working widescreen support in-game.
