Noob Filter

Post by Sanirius »

I've looked through the list and didn't find anything about this.
Maybe I didn't look hard enough.. lock it if you feel the need.

Would it be possible to put a award system in the game, which would show what a player is capable of and what not?
For example, a helicopter pilot badge which one would have to obtain in a training map after flying for an hour in a helicopter. If you would try to fly a helo in a real server without this badge, it simply wouldn't let you.
This way, we would get rid of any vanilla noobs trying to fly helos/planes, or solo tanks, or take certain limited kits which they just can't use because of their lack of skill.
Basically, force every new player in PR to use the training servers before wasting any assets in real servers. (Similar to America's Army)

Sounds really hardcoded tbh... and I guess awards are also managed by EA per account, but i hope there is some way around this..
So... I thought I'd post it anyway.

Opinions?

It's been suggested before IIRC, suggesting same sort of thing:

No need to get rough I think. Did you read his post before you answered? He said nothing against the fact that someone is new, he just had a simple thought ;)

What are you thinking if for example you are on operation barracuda and a fully loaded chopper crashes into 2 other fully loaded choppers right at the beginning of the map, because the pilot has its first time PR and doesnt wait for the warm up? And he neither read the manual nor played on a training server?
For me, it makes me a bit angry if such new guys wast vehicles, or loose sniperkits, HATs, etc. 1 minute after start.

And now tell me Delta, if the idea of Sanirius isnt worth at least a thought...

In all fairness, this has been suggested previously.

Also, many see it as a form of elitism from the established players, which could only rupture the community. Personally, I would ask you to have patience with new players, as those before us did with our sorry selves. Being new and being extremely ignorant are not always compliments. If you see someone trying things as they would have in BF2, thats natural and forgivable.
Most other mods mod mostley asthetics, compared to PRs focus on gameplay. Why would a new commer expect PR to be any different?

Please do the Mod a favour and have patience.
