[Map] Escape 2006 [scrapped]

Post by ali-tom »

Hey gents,

i like to show you an older map project i start early 2006 and never complete !
Last october i clean up some older backup drives and wonder if you guys
can take a look on that stuff before i delete this map for ever.

You must know that i dont play PR for a minimum of 2 years, i cant enjoy Battelfield or any other FPS anymore. :-(

Fire up a local server for 64 players, drive around and tell me what you think. 16 and 32 player sizes will not work perfect atm !

Original description:

"After a part of the USMC troops could successfully break through at the Invasion of Jabal, they were able to move deeper into the country last night. With many casualties and loss of vehicles they could arrive at the Highway Checkpoint leading to Aqaba. From this position, it is the goal to bring the entire area under US control in order to be able to bring in support and logistics. As the fight for Jabal is still underway,
air support is not available atm.

Although MEC could keep the majority of US troops at Jabal in check, a squad was able to spearhead through on the highway to Aqaba. They are now at the main entrance of a key area and must be stopped at all costs."

No "real" location, smal but detailed urban city, many open roads, industrial areas

size: 2km x 2km

I remember this map, see you have done some work on it, are you planning on finishing it? Remember there was lots of zfight issues in the city that needed to be fixed a long time back but its looking good in the screens, keep it up if your planning on finishing it

Aye, looks like a very worthy companion to the Jabal series :)

I just had a drive around it and it looks great. I would love to see this in PR, with a little different flag layout.

I didn't see any z-fighting issues in the city.

Great Job!

I think one of the Community mods should grab this map and see if they can make soemthing out of it. As an AAS map, iirc, the terrain was a bit tricky. But for Insurgency or the like I think it has a lot of potential.

Good to see you Ali-Tom!

Ok look in the unzipped folder and there should be a folder named escape, you need to put that folder into your levels folder.

Thanks, mate.

I liked the map, a lot. Nicely done! It would be great for AAS. Urban combat and long range rulal combat.

But, on a side note.
Although MEC could keep the majority of US troops at Jabal in check, a squad was able to spearhead through on the highway to Aqaba. They are now at the main entrance of a key area and must be stopped at all costs.
The US got 2 M1114 HMMWV's, 1 M1121 TOW HMMVW, 1 M998 HMMWV Support, 1 LAV-25 APC at main (if I'm correct) and 1 M1114 HMMWV, 1 M998 HMMWV Support at the bridge outpost (if I'm correct). Thats a LOT. Remove the M1121 TOW HMMVW and LAV-25 APC. I'm thinking you could make this map just like Qwai river (others will understand). Let MEC be better armed and preparad. I'm thinking- maybe remove the BTR-90 and give MEC the BMP-3?

US Marines should focus on infantry and AT weapons.

For INS this map wouldn't be good. There aren't lot of buildings and, I think, not many enterable buildings. US forces could easily find them.

Those were my 2 cents.

How 'bout the IDF?

I really like the design, it captures the "Jabal" essence

Proposed PMC faction could use it as a 'convoy/supply protection' map :)
