PR Going Commercial.

Post by Peeta »

With the upcoming 1.0 release I think that when the time rolls around Project Reality should build their own game engine and commercialize their game for $50.00 in your local Wal-Mart or Best Buy. This is a serious suggestion. Can I hear some support?

making a GAME ENGINE is not that easy, is really realy really really hard.

1 programmer can be 1 year making a game engine (here in argentina a games producer had 1 programmer and lasted 1 year to make the engine, not the game, only engine.)

this is a MOD, remember it. we are working over already really devolped and tested stuff. making stuff from nothing is F***** hard.

edit

actually, its mean to stomp all over his suggestion. look, the recognition would be cool. but it would change everything. it wouldnt be the same. it ould be too much dude. think about all the conseguences that would follow if this was implimented.

Yes, has been talked about multiple times. The Dev's answer has always been no.

Firstly, the target group of PR is rather small, and the Dev's do not want to adapt to the audience but make the game they want - which is the reason why we have this awesome thing now and not some random BF2 clone. Secondly, they are lacking manpower, money, experience et cetera for the creation of a whole game.

It's just not going to happen - the engine still works, we get a game for free, and it's better than most commercial games.

You might however donate the 50 bucks ;) (I know, I didn't, but I'm poor :p )

And with this, the thread is closed.
