Please do change the name of the deployable object most commonly known as "FireBase" to something else, this is not a firebase as i am sure you are all well aware. Try to change to something like "Forward Hard Point" or "Forward Logistics Areas" something like that, as thus in context of most battles that is what it is most used for / as.

It is a forward operating position ingame so I don't see why this would be such a big deal. Firebase is simple enough and players are used to it, so why change it? Something like "Forward Logistics Area" sounds too clumsy, to be honest.

It's no longer called like that.

Once the deployable assets have been introduced there were 2 types - a bunker (built at CPs) and a firebase (outside of CPs).
The last version generalized it and since then there is only the forward outpost, which will either spawn what used to be the bunker or the firebase.

The name itself is just a leftover, which players tend to use (me included).

It's not, players have gotten into the habit of saying firebase because it was formally known as that. It is no longer.
