Is that a flamethrower that marine is carrying in the refs?
If so I DEMAND that it be included......complete with combustible backpack.
Seriously.....

Well maybe my post got overlooked, but I found that the Chinese are planning to make an aircraft carrier for the near future. So maybe those of you with better contacts than me might be able to find some kind of blueprints or sketches of what it might look like.

Re: [Proposal] PLAN Marines
There is NO info out there for this on how to crate a "Carrier/Assault Ship" for BF2.[R-CON]PRC_Heavy_Z wrote:@Rhino
I will plan on creating the assualt Vessels and I am currently searching for info on the pallet texture thing you've mentioned. I will not make much of an interior for the ship, only a stair way to the rear heli hanger from the vehicle bay so it shouldn't be too much of a task compared to a Carrier, and as you mentioned the Vessel is ~ less than 3/4 the size of a carrier. If you could give me a link to some info on creating a "carrier" static that'd be awesome. Though why can't we just create a giant single static? If the Assualt vessel doesn't go well, we could also simply have small islands on the maps as staging areas.
There is only really one ship that has been fully made for BF2 and that's by the BFP2 team that made a huge gally of some sorts for one of there maps think its called Dead Calm if I remember correctly.
I would also say an assault ship is more or less the same size as the USS Essex since the USS Essex is really just a mut (ie, its a cross between a Carrier and an Assault ship).
Talk to me about it some more anyways on xfire in the new year

Re: [Proposal] PLAN Marines
ooooooooooh i like this idea!
the PLANMC would make an awesome beach assault force with nearly all their assets being amphibious, VN3s, WZ551s and Type 63A amphibious tanks.
i'll go scrounging around my local uniform shops to see if i can get my mitts on some Type 07 ocean pattern uniform, i already have the urban set used in pr so there might just be a chance.

I am modeling the Type 82 Grenade, could someone please get some ref. pictures of these spots of the Grenade? I cannot really see what it is and how it looks like.
Thank you

Re: [Proposal] PLAN Marines
btw here is a nice video of the PLA's flamethrower squadron, these guys would definately be used in any beach assault
oh and im not sure whether this is actually used by the PLANMC but the pyromanic inside me just screams in glee at the thought of the Type 79 rocket hand grenade
The Norinco Type 79 rocket hand grenade is an unusual design in that the user has the option of either using it as a normal stick grenade or selecting the rocket-powered option to hand launch the grenade warhead to a range of up to 400 m. Exactly how each mode is selected is unclear. It may be that the entire grenade is employed for either mode or the central portion may be removed from the launcher tube for throwing as a stick grenade. On target the 45 mm diameter grenade body produces a lethal radius of 8.65 m.
its in essence a hand grenade and mini panzerfaust rolled into one, right now ive only heard about frag versions but i wouldnt be surprised if there were HEAT verisons of this as well

Re: [Proposal] PLAN Marines
We are currently not planning to add any more infantry weapons the the arsenal, I was humoring the thought of adding the flamethrower. However, this weapon would simply have little to no practical use in PR and also not to mention it'd be very hard to implement realistically.
The video is very good at showing how difficult using the flame thrower would be. The recoil from the weapon is greater than 130Kg and could only be fired in short burst and separated by pauses from stationary positions, otherwise as shown during the end, there won't be enough pressure to project the fuel and it could have dire consequences for the shooter.

Re: [Proposal] PLAN Marines
Pfft apart from burning everything! I do agree tho it isnt the most practical of weapons, being that you HAVE to be lying down to use it. However, doesent it have some kind of low pressure switch for lighting BBQs or something?'[R-CON wrote:PRC_Heavy_Z;883097'I was humoring the thought of adding the flamethrower. If it can be used in some capacity standing up (with the long range burst lying down) then I urge you to reconsider!!

Re: [Proposal] PLAN Marines
it doesnt have to burn everything, it would be just like the molotovs except shot in a stream instead of thrown.Jonny wrote:We cant have burnable undergrowth/overgrowth AFAIK, and using all-destructible buildings would be a pain.
in terms of animations the video shows it is operated much in the same way as any support weapon and its range is long enough (105 metres!) to be used as one as well.
more info on the NORINCO type 74 flamethrower
Flamethrowers
its a copy of the russian LPO-50 with extensive upgrades to its range and weight

although its true that it wouldnt be an essential part to the faction but if someone can make one im sure there wouldnt be a problem with it being a pickup kit on the assault ships

Re: [Proposal] PLAN Marines
couple of things complicates adding the flamethrower.
1. The hose
I don't know how to and I don't think anyone on this team knows how to animate it or code it so it connects the flamethrower nozzle to the storage pack
2. The storage packs
This would mean making new kit models and everything that follows
3. Again, more practicality issues. it takes at least 2/3 min, I'd say more time, to refile/pressurize the thing and those tanks don't enough for practical use in terms of PR. IRL it's different. Also, I highly doubt it'll reach 105m. Maybe if the wind is on your side that would be possible. It'd more likely be 80-90m.
those three are the most apparent ones I can think of on top of my head, I'm sure there are even more complicated matter I haven't thought of.
Of course, if anyone want to give a crack at it, feel free to do so. If they successfully make it work in a realistic manner, then we'll happily include it. However, this community faction team and I will focus on tasks already noted on the plan.

Re: [Proposal] PLAN Marines
it would probably be possible to have the storage packs as part of the weapon and have then have them so they sit on the players back with the animations so it stays on the back, but the problem would this would be if the player changes his weapon to say a field dressing or w/e the packs would disappear off the players back instantly hehe.
Anyways HZ, do I have you on my xfire? Can't seem to see you on my list, do you also use xfire? add me so I can talk to you about this.

Re: [Proposal] PLAN Marines
I like how the guy with the flamethrower was being picked up with another guy standing right in front of the muzzle and he kept his finger on the trigger. Nice way to accidentally kill everybody.
