Question about .85 release

Post by Incomplete Spork »

Are you guys gonna release it on a site that doesn't make you wait an hour in a line before you get to download it?

correct, File Planet we did an exclusivity deal with but they underestimated how many people would be downloading the mod so there simply wasn't enough servers to cope with the strain, hence why you had to wait a hr or w/e last time to download.

Why not just upload it on every upload website. Such as rapidshare and things like that. sure you will have to wait 1 min to download but that aint such a problem.

And if its too big just post it in parts.

why the hell would we ever want to host anything on rapidshare?

we have loads of servers, we did a 24hr exclusivity deal with File Planet for v0.8 which means they had the only download links for the first 24hrs for PR v0.8 ....

for v0.85 we will not do any exclusivity deals and will have the v0.85 files uploaded onto multiple servers in advance including torrents so you can download them from there just like how v0.75, v0.7, v0.6 etc was done....

Since we have this topic, Ill ask something else.

Will it be a patch 0.8 > 0.85 or will it be a full release ?

I remember a DEV saying it will be a full release thanks to the big number of changes made.

And how can you apply to host such a mirror? You know, you have to get the files one day befor release to have enough time to load it on your server?
The last time we tried it for bf-x.de and that was some stress, so I would like to ask in advance now... ;)
