Infantryman's Bible

Post by deathisredemption »

FM 7-8 Table of Contents

This is the esstential guide to and infantry platoon, squad, or fireteam. It is FM 7-8 and its an army field manual. Trust me it works and I have used these tactics in real life and in game. I now pass this info onto you. Enjoy!!!

They drilled that stuff into me. Especially the squad movements and battles drills. Those are the 2 sections I recommend those to read out of everything in there.

Very nice find!

But, without meaning to cause offense, a british army handbook would be much better ;) (The british army is better trained than the American one afterall, nobody disagree because it's fact :D )

First of all welcome to the forums. Second of all, please refrain from posts like this. Understood its a joke, but thats how a lot of these flame wars start out, and simply saying one is better trained than another is not going to get you anywhere on the forums :)

P.S. What was that movie where a guy kept saying "No offense, -----" and then something really offensive, and his buddies kept trying to get it through to him that just because you say "No offense" it doesnt mean you can follow it up with whatever you want ;)

Royal Marine Machine,

That may be the case, but the US Army, is a very well trained Army, and respected around the world for its size and capability, so next time, zip it.

id imagine quite abit of this, unfortunately might not be applicable to PR, because this guide is for trained soldiers who can hit a target 50m in front of them. Unfortunately PR 0.8 features soldiers that seem to have been using a rifle for one day :(

Who wants odds on 0.85 within 3 days? a week?

With it... better deviation... hopefully.

Meh, I'd say a week at least. Maybe just in time to download right after the exams :p

With the new logistics, the entire game modes will be changed (I'm not sure how though), and this probably IS one of the bigger, if not the biggest, changes pr is implementing. They better do a whole lotta testing to make it feasible for public games.

Yes, exactly this thread isn't for this kind of ****. Yes, I do take offense to this. Becuase you are saying that I myself was not a highly trained soldier. I served my time in Iraq I did my duty. There is so much more I could say but it would destroy the integrity of this thread. I am also glad that everyone enjoys this find.

The basic infantery of most G8 is better equipped, thats for sure on the other hand they cant call in support from carriers.

I had a look at it, why would they put the Automatic rifleman behind the pointman ? In PR I would put him last, he just attracts too much fire and with that gun fiering has a poor feeling for when he should duck into cover. Also when the enemy tries to rush and overruns 2-3 Riflemen there is always the AR to rip into the enemy.
Guess irl the AR is of little use spraying friendlies.

Right cut all that out, for one this is not the thread or the forum to talk about who's army is better. For one your probably not even a soldier in the british army and if you are that doesn't mean you have any idea how well trained one Army is over the other. I'm a member of the United States Army and I have no idea how well trained any other fighting force is other than my own, so I don't go around fighting my military against others like its a game of chess.

On another note I am very familiar with this Field Manual which is also out of date by over 10 years. Everything in this manual has been updated for a more modern combat collaboration.

This manual though would be of less help to people due to the fact that it is only more of a dictionary rather than a training manual for basic tactics.

For all of you looking for basic British infanteer tactics, I have posted the six basic section battle drills that I have learnt in cadets; the PREWAR section attack (I missed out PAWPERSO in the preparation stage because in a game it's not vital).

I must say though, that manual is very comprehensive, a bit too much so for my liking. Other than that, nice find.
