Re: [Proposal] PLAN Marines
okay here i am with the newest update on the small transport boat, i have redesigned the entire engine since last update and i hope that you like it (not completely done yet, but i wanted criticism on it to improve it more) i have also made several adjustment to the boat itself to make the hull look better (might need small touch ups) as of the moment the tri count is at 2100 and i am planning on a roof of about 2500 but if the detail is not needed i will not add it (could be used for paddles and other accesory, and i still need a handle for control)
but here are what the pics of the updates.

note that the engine is not fully integrated yet since i am still in doubt of where the boat will hit the water and the propeller needs to be adjusted to this.
hope you guys like the update

massively WIP uniforms, type 07 digi camo and type 03 tiger pattern. Seeing as marines love crawling round in the mud I've made them a bit dirty

Ye but to be honest I am working from Chucs PSDs so hes done all the boring bits already heheh
PS Motherdear, boat hull is looking excellent.....very nice and smooth. My only crit on the ngine is the top boxy bit isnt usually that wide on ones I've seen, or if it is, it gets narrower towards the handle....

Nice uniforms and boat, but the engine of the boat doesn't look like its centered, looks of if you look at it

Re: [Proposal] PLAN Marines
you need more detail and things like the screw bits for the motor is like too fine detail on its own, it looks out of place just on its own, you need that kinda detail all over it but not as high poly.motherdear wrote:okay here i am with the newest update on the small transport boat, i have redesigned the entire engine since last update and i hope that you like it (not completely done yet, but i wanted criticism on it to improve it more) i have also made several adjustment to the boat itself to make the hull look better (might need small touch ups) as of the moment the tri count is at 2100 and i am planning on a roof of about 2500 but if the detail is not needed i will not add it (could be used for paddles and other accesory, and i still need a handle for control)

Also a major point here, boats in BF2 can not "displace" water like they do in r/l, ie, if you put that boat into water now ingame there would be water in the inside of the boat unless you had it skimming just above the water with the motor out of the water.
Quick, 2min paint exsample:

Right this is a real basic cross section of a boat,o n the left you have a boat how it would be in r/l, with it displacing the water around it and no water getting inside, but on the left you have what will happen in BF2 which is the water going though the boat's hull and inside it...
If you look at the vBF2 RHIB you will notice that the inside bottom of the boat is flat, and also above the water line, hence why you do not see any water going inside of it thou if you push the boat down you can get the water to go though the hull and into the bottom without going over the edge.
So to get your boat to work you will need to make major changes, maybe a unrealistic design changes to get it to work like make the inside bottom of the boat higher, flat and above the water. Otherwise this boat is a waste of time.
nice, glad your doing the digi, looking really good so far'[R-CON wrote:Mescaldrav;886922']massively WIP uniforms, type 07 digi camo and type 03 tiger pattern. Seeing as marines love crawling round in the mud I've made them a bit dirty

Re: [Proposal] PLAN Marines
na you dont really need to export it to know if its going to work, motherdear has already contacted me on xfire and I exsplained you could just setup a plane in max of where you want the water level to be ingame, then providing its all good in max the export/coder shouldn't have much problem setting up the floaters on the boat so that it floats at where it should.Jonny wrote:Anyone in particular we should be contacting here, Rhino?

Do they have flame tanks?[R-CON]PRC_Heavy_Z wrote:We are currently not planning to add any more infantry weapons the the arsenal, I was humoring the thought of adding the flamethrower. However, this weapon would simply have little to no practical use in PR and also not to mention it'd be very hard to implement realistically.

Re: [Proposal] PLAN Marines
in regards to the engine jonny thx for the feedback, again it's only a prototype so far, but i actually forgot to save that pic as a reference so i modelled the attachment area with no proper ref of it (had to improvise a bit, and note that i have never been in a boat before (only ferries etc) so i have to try and do what i think is right)
also in regards to the smoothing it's actually not that bad since i am modelling this after a newer model than the one in that pic, did this because it had the best reference.
http://www.boattest.com/images-gallery/ ... ptiMax.jpg
as you can see it's way more smooth than the older models.
in regards to the rear of the engine above the prop you are quiet right in that it looks really really wrong, but that is actually because i cut that part out to save some of the tri count, but the area is not done yet and i'm adding more detail after talking to Rhino. so i'm going to be doing more towards it in the future. (also note that the height of the engine is totally off since it has to fit with the boat proportions) remember this is not a exact copy of one engine but more of a miss match between different models to make a engine that fits and looks good ( it's not a documentary it's more like art and to make a lookalike of an object, and yes realism this isn't realistic but it's a boat engine not a tank
)
and again thx for the feedback.
btw jonny could you send me a pm with you xfire, then we could talk about changes etc.
