This type of robot has been suggested before. Please use search.
There's a maximum of 32 players per team, and there is a better use for them than playing a first-person shooter within a first-person shooter. And in the type of open, conventional warfare seen in BF2/PR, these would be of extremely limited utility given the state of electronic jamming technologies. Their mobility is limited compared to an infantryman or light vehicle, and they can't carry a weapon any bigger than either of the above, either.

No, but even if it did, only the losers get prosecuted for violating the laws of armed conflict.Tartantyco wrote:-Isn't it illegal to use armed drones/bots in conflict?

That's okay, and your English is just fine.162eRI wrote:I'm sorry! I know it's hazardous to post something already proposed, so I indeed researched with "Talon", "Ripsaw" and "Robot" keywords and found none, but English isn't my first language, so I may have missed it! Sorry
I am not disputing that they may save a human soldier's life in actual combat, I am disputing their usefulness in game. 60 mph isn't any faster than the light trucks in game. And while they are compact, how do these robots handle stairs other vertical obstacles? Though to unrealistic heights, so we can actually have them get over a parking barrier, infantry soldiers can at least jump in this game. They can also climb ladders and ropes.162eRI wrote:Well, as for this, I don't agree with you, but that's my point of view: so what's for you an aircraft or a tank and what they are for?... Secondly, PR have urban maps, they are perfect for this kind of slow but killer robots, because you say they can't carry a weapon bigger than infantryman, well, the point is at least when the robot is destroyed, it's not an infantryman who have been killed and also i think you don't watch closely, because for me they wear big guns... or I'm blind? And you say also, their mobility is limited, well, 60mph for me is pretty fast? no?
And once again, why take more players out to:
-Drive a small, remote operated vehicle with limited firepower and ammunition stowage
-something they have no real consequence for losing (if they are destroyed in a vehicle they have to respawn)
Just so someone can play Twisted Metal: Small Brawl within this game?
It's an idiot magnet, it's a waste of players to man it, and thus a waste of our resources to make it.

In frontlines the drones were pretty much a waste of time, and got used unrealistically, far too often. And theres also the problem of range, in the huge maps of PR you wouldn`t be very effective if your drone lost connection after 50m. And on top of all that, the bf2 engine isn`t exactly setup for this type of stuff.
The only part of this i would like to see is maybe a flying (UAV type) recon drone that the commander can control from his command post. Showing him a limited view of the battlefield. But even then it would have to be noisy and fragile. So any small arms that hit it would take it out. And limit it to 1 per round.
